chanhonam
Hi guys,Been having a problem off and on for a while now where the car seems to heistate while accelerating. I put my foot down and there is a delay of a second or two before it goes. Clutch and gearbox seem to be fine no crunching or the like. Any ideas what the problem may be? daniel_g
Could be fuel related, so filter, pump, injectors, lines, rail, tank etc. Try changing the fuel filter first.
chanhonam
Had that changed about 4 months ago and still having the problem. Been searching around but doesn't seem a very common problem amongst Starlets so it's got me stumped although on othe makes MAF/MAP sensors have popped up, so could it be that? LukeSR
Could be your throttle cable, is it slack?
Dan507
Mine does this to, it's really stange.
morgey
Or maybe o2 sensor, when cruising its in use but when the throttles presses down it should swtich to pre-set maps but initially its using the o2 sensor reading. Whats your mpg like?
ryan lang
plugs and leads? dizzy?
chanhonam
morgey - getting about 240 odd miles for 3/4 tank full.Luke & ryan - will check those on weds/thurs.
morgey
Are you n/a or boosted? 240 miles to a full tank is about 34mpg iirc which isnt too bad unless you've an n/a and doing long drives alot, so wouldnt think it was o2 sensor.
chanhonam
It's an N/A SR with the usual Corolla inlet manifold mod. No long drives either since work is pretty near.
morgey
Yeah that seems pretty reasonable then, check what the rest have sugested, plugs, dizzy, leads.Vaccum lines aswel maybe old and perished?
chanhonam
Checked out my plugs today, appear to be oily and darkish brown. Throttle cable appears to be a tad slack too. Dizzy, leads and vaccum lines appear to be fine though.
