here are an abreviation of some technical terms.

  • RR - rolling road

    a machine that measures the power of an engine

  • MPG - Miles Per Gallon

  • EBC - electronic boost controller

  • MBC - manual boost controller

  • RRFPR - rising rate fuel pressure regulator

    a device used to adjust the pressure at which fuel goes into the engine

  • DOHC - Dual Over head Camshaft

  • SOHC - Single Over head Camshaft

  • TMIC - top mount intercooler

  • FMIC - front mount intercooler

  • EGT - exhaust gas temperature

  • PCD - pitch circle diameter

    the measurement through the wheel studs of a car

  • AFR - air/fuel ratio

  • EFI - electronic fuel injection

  • BOV - blowoff valve

    or more comonly known as the dump valve

  • SLD - speed limit defender

    takes away the speedcut from any import ep

  • FCD - fuel cut defender

    takes away the fuel cut away from any turbo ep

  • HID - high intensity discharge

    lighting system found on prestigious brands- transmits a brighter light over halogen bulbs

  • MANI - manifold

  • CR - compression ratio

  • ABS - anti-lock braking system

  • TPS - throttle position sensor

  • TDC - Top Dead Centre

    a term in regards to cam gears

  • PSI - pounds per square inch

    a measurement of boost along with bar

  • BCC - boost cut controller

  • BMCS - brake master cylinder stopper

    a device that clamps around the master cylinder to stop it from moving

  • A/C - air conditioning

  • ECU - electronic control unit

    the brain that runs an engine

  • AFM - air flow meter

  • EMS - engine management system in regards to full aftermarket non oem solutions

  • EPC - electronic parts catalogue

  • AFR - air/fuel ratio

  • MAP - manifold absolute pressure (sensor)

  • ARB - anti roll bar

    a bar that mounts to the rear that increases roll stiffness and quells understear

  • OEM - Stands for Original Equipment from Manufacturer

  • JDM - Stands for Japanese Domestic Market - products and equipment that were intended for the Japanese market.

  • USDM - Stands for United States Domestic Market - products and equipment that were intended for the American market.

  • SR - Stands for 'Sport Rally'

  • LSD - Limited Slip Differential

  • BHP - Brake Horse Power

    power at the flywheel

  • WHP - Wheel Horse Power

    power at the wheels, this is a more accurate measure

  • WOT - Wide Open Throttle

  • Zenki - Early model

  • Kouki - Facelift revised model

  • PAS - Power Assisted Steering

I think the rest of the team need to visit the Ikea Lounge a bit more often so they can see whats happening...

Will keep an eye out for more abbreviations tho man.

Gee I thought LSD was Lysergic acid diethylamide :lol:

I had a good text file I copied from a random site once -- it had more general terms in it too that cropped up.

I have an idea -- see how you can link to actual posts within a thread? Well we could have a glossary at the top (in alphabetical order) like G has already -- but each abbreviation is itself a link to a post further down the thread for instance:

And where it links to has a more in depth (unless it's really straightforward) description??

note: only prob I've found so far is it links into a new window, but I'm sure there's code to link it in the same window.
