gaz
of getting a 12" sub and small amp and another amp of the same and some 6by9's.but i dont wanna lose alot of performance i took my 2 12's and amp out of my escort the other day and they are seriously heavy, then i went out for a drive and my car did actually feel quicker. but that would weigh more than what im after.it would be a while as i would need to save some extra cashbut would that effect the performance alot? lobotomy
Just make your own "stealth" boxes with jack connections. That way you can remove them quickly and easily for real performance needs like the strip etc... or a sunday blast.
Guest Enzo
i wouldent say considerably..mabe a slight difference but not much i would imagine..how many extra kg's do you think it might ad?

Robbo
It will of course make you slightly slower but i wouldn't say a lot depends how far you take it, if its just a couple of amps and a sub, then, then I don't see the problem, If you like your music and bass then go for it. plus you can make it easily removeable for strips etc,Personally I like to crank the volume up and cruise sometimes, like in traffic in the morning, what good is a stripped out racer then? that's when you'll appreciate it. gaz
yes mate good point, i do like my music and my bass and after all the watts in my old car i will miss it. besides in about a years time ill try and do some performance mods which should make up for it. ive got lots of plans. lol
Robbo
Don't we all I'm doing ICE at the mo, then will do the looks, like a respray or something, then up the performance, not going to piddle around with something like more boost and a biggyback ecu, everyone who does that upgrades not long after, I'm gonna go forgies and a big turbo of course thats next year sometime though ;)
gaz
wicked mate let me know how it goes. i want to clean the bay first and make it colourful and nice, then ill do the sounds, with not exactly a boot build but i little boot build as i already have the wood. just something to hold the equipment in place and still have space in the boot, if ya get me, then ill do performance and interior and some custom bits about the place too. i wont overdo performance, ill just do full exhaust some spark pugs maybe some othe bits ill be happy at about 150bhp. SiCaln
Yeah I've had an install put in mine, havent noticed the car is much slower to be honest, two amps and one 12" sub sounds good tho lol
gaz
lol i could keep my 2 12's and amp but they are honestly about 50kilo's lol. ill get a pic of em today and people can tell if its worth it, another things is that i will be giving lifts to a full car when i start college once a week and i dont want the car to crack under pressure, lol
Robbo
well when you got a car full you wont be blasting it around anyway, I always feel the GT feels the same with 1 passenger, but with anyone extra in the back it really slows down.I'm going to have 2 amps, 1 for sub, 1 for fronts, no rear speakers, 1 12" sub, and a computer ;).My build will be fully MDF, as I don't know how to fiberglass and don't have the time to learn or after researching the cost, the money to do that! So its not going to look amazing, the small boot in the starlet isn't helping plus I planned for a 3-point rear strut brace which also doesnt help!So far all I've done is a false floor, taken out the spare wheel abd put a mini floor in there, amps will go in there, sub to one side of the boot, and computer the other side probably. Robbo
I haven't weighed my stuff either, the amps must be like 2kg each, computer about 1.5kg not including box or housing, and sub in box will be 25-30kg I think, plus a 10kg floor (I have large blocks of wood and lots of silicone holding it together), all adds up.
