Ryan_EP82 GT
I was looking one as well it would be real handy. Got the engine out in the end took us 4 hours tho
daniel_g
Theres one on TGTT for a GT, exact same process. http://www.toyotagtturbo.com/forums/showwiki.php?title=EP82+Engine+removal I havent had a good look through it but its fairly straight forward. If you are using a crane then pretty much disconnect the mounts, shafts, loom, matrix pipes, gear cables and vac lines to rack and rip it out with manifolds and ancillarys on. Leave the box bolted on and lift it as one. If you dont have a crane then its easier to take as much stuff off as you can and drop it down onto a pallet. Mind and drain the gear oil before popping the shafts.
bucketep91
I find it easier to drop it out the bottom and use the crane to lift the car off it, its not a hard job these cars are great to work on.
daniel_g
Yeah i didnt bother with a crane at all when i took the engine out the GT, or even when i another one in
bucketep91
Ive done that before lol
Ryan_EP82 GT
Both the gt engines i've pulled now have come out from underneath rather than out the conventional way lol
mikehardy92
I took mine out the top without a crane, just used long bit of chain and a big RSJ. Haha
TurboTobz
Supposing your in a garage a chainblock (block and tackle) maybe suffice once chained around your roof supports depending on the condition of them, it's always a bit of a 5p 50p moment, but never had one go yet and done some big heavy engines lol
mikehardy92
Yeah, the block and tack we used were a friends dads (tractor mechanic) so we knew that would hold and then the roof support is a huge steel reinforced girder so we knew it would be strong enough, will use a crane to put the new engine in though
dangeestarlet
Ive done that before lol that my old car? 98ke8542?
