A L 3 X
Looking at getting a wideband soon, and have had a few different opinions, what do people recommend...here are a few suggested ones i've been looking at:http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/INNOVATE-MTX-L-AFR-Wideband-Air-Fuel-Ratio-Gauge-3844-/300506017816?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item45f78df018http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/INNOVATE-DB-RED-LED-WIDEBAND-GAUGE-KIT-LC-1-02-SENSOR-/300378724688?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item45eff79950http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/AEM-GAUGE-6-in-1-TYPE-WIDEBAND-UEGO-CONTROLLER-30-4100-/300378623904?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item45eff60fa0
5T4R7ET N/A
I would go with AEM, doesnt need recalibrating and it's tried and tested.
Flaminsam
Use the mtx-l in my starlet. It has a simulated narrow band output so you can just run a wire to the ecu to keep it informed of fuelling.
funny onion
Use the mtx-l in my starlet. It has a simulated narrow band output so you can just run a wire to the ecu to keep it informed of fuelling. But apart from that the actual wideband itself is shit! Needs recalibrating, and the gauge is uber bright orange and blinds you at night! Lol
turbo Grant
I like my innovate lc-1 I don't mind calibrating it as then you know it's all good.
A L 3 X
I thought the mtx-1 didn't need calibrating?Erm does the aem have the output to the ecu? AndDoes this mean i can remove the old narrowband and use this instead?
Flaminsam
The aem does not have a simulated narrow band. Yes the dials are a touch bright but it all depends on where you mount it. It only needs calibrating on first installation. Its really easy to use. With the aem you will have to run the standard lambda sensor too really.
A L 3 X
Ah right so with the mtx can I just cut the wire to the standard lambda and solder the output wire from the mtx to this and problem solved it will fit in the hole for the standard lambda?
AdamB
The MTX uses a Bosch LSU 4 wideband sensor, which needs calibrating.According to innovates website the LC-1 has auto calibration for changes in sensor wear, temp etc. Although is probably still best to calibrate it every so often.http://www.innovatemotorsports.com/products/lc1.phpThe LC-1 you get with all the gauge kits apart from the MTX kit.Don't quote me but I'm not sure if the AEM can be linked to aftermarket ecu's, maybe AEM's own but others i'm not sure. Where as the innovate gear can deffinately be used with aftermarket ecu's.
A L 3 X
What about my standard jam racing ecu? For the innovate, leaning towards that, in fact it doesn't matter if you need the narrowband as well as either way the standard bung is too close for a wideband so ill need another bung also
AdamB
Standard ecu's will require the use of a narrowband sensor, and I'm very sure the aftermarket plug and plays also require this.Thats true you will need to have the boss welded in further away from the turbo, a lot of people just use the wideband purely as a gauge and let the stock narrowband sensor do its job in the stock position. Rob H@RCH Engineering
I run a PLX dm-6 wide band, that has a out put for the ECU, does not require any thing doing once fitted, and can be added to with loads more sensors and modules I have the EGT sensor on mine too. Will at RDT has had to bin at least 6 AEM ones in as many months due to sensor faults and not been accurate. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/PLX-DM-6-Touch-Screen-Multi-Gauge-52mm-SM-AFR-GEN2-Combo-PN-C6AFRG2-/120985576828?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item1c2b4d657c
Asad
NGK-afx would be my choice
A L 3 X
Ideally I was wanting a gauge one however that ngk one looks alright, bit expensive for me tho wanting to spend nearer 150The plz looks good, this is the problem, so many different opinions lol
A L 3 X
Plx*
Asad
fair enough, if you want a flashy gauge then plx/aem/innovate it is...most go for aem (cheapest) then innovate...hardly any plx users about on here apart from rob i thinkit may be expensive but dig a little deeper and you`ll soon find out why, they also ship with there own NTK sensor not the common bosch....and who holds a majority market for aftermarket sparkplugs/lambda sensors?....NGK and NTK ceramics devision
james@cjperformance
we will be running a group buy on depo wide bands very soon will be very close to the £100 mark
A L 3 X
It does look quality mate, but as I say i'm after a gauge, nowhere to put a module like that tbh.I'm really not sure what to get tbh, wanting to order tomorrow and my choice will be betweenInnovate DBhttp://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/INNOVATE-DB-BLUE-LED-WIDEBAND-GAUGE-KIT-LC-1-02-SENSOR-/290382630291?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item439c274d93PLXhttp://www.plxdevices.com/product_info.php?id=MULTDM6MTX-Lhttp://www.innovatemotorsports.com/products/MTXL.phpOr AEM UEGOhttp://www.aemelectronics.com/wideband-air-fuel-systems-15/digital-wideband-air-fuel-gauge-25/Now i'm thinking towards to innovate DB, purely because its gonna look the most similar to the gauges i'm gonna get for the pod with it, but can anyone tell me if this is a good choice or not?James, need one ASAP tbh mate, as I need to confirm my fuelling is ok? The depo was my original choice but akyakapotters experience put me off, was that a one off?
A L 3 X
also, what thread are these wideband sensors?
james@cjperformance
yeah weve sold loads of them dude and his is the only one we have known a problem with im sending him a brand new unit tommorow so we can get the faulty unit tested by depo to see where the fault lies tommorow
akyakapotter
Don't let my one put you off dude mine is off up to James tomorrow so all is good
A L 3 X
Ah right no worries, don't suppose you have any in stock you could do out of the group buy?
james@cjperformance
We will have one in stock next week sometime dude
A L 3 X
Ah I need to get one ordered tomorrow really, might go for the innovate DB then as its the closest to the depo gauges. As for the oil pressure and boost gauges, can you get those ones with the digital readout on bottom right also james?Cany anyone confirm the thread of the wideband so I can order a stainless boss
akyakapotter
I'm sure you'll get one in the kit mate double check though
