Hello I have a few smoke related questions if anyone can answer them it would be much appreaciated.

If the turbo oil seals are gone what colour smoke comes out of the exhaust on idle and on boost?

If the ringlands are fu*ked what colour smoke on comes out of the exhaust on idle and boost?

If the stem seals are gone what colour smoke comes out of the exhaust on idle and boost?

Thanx in advance!

All the above should produce a blueish snake as they are all engine oil related. When do you notice it smoke?

It smokes on idle a tad but alot on boost.

Blue = Oil

Black = Fuel

White = Water

Pretty general guide. Get your nose in there if your not sure have a smell can tell the smell of oil from the other 2 a mile off.

Im going to carry outy a compression test this weekend and post back.

I got a feeling its turbo to be honest so im going to undo my o2 sensor and check for oil residue with a bore scope.

When does it smoke?

Slightly on idle and when you come off boost?

It smokes a bit on idle and quite alot more on boost its like a white smoke and can also smell oil.

No loss of water just a little loss of oil

Sounds like the turbo to me mate.

Its not normally blue as youd imagine can sometimes be white aswell with the cold weather and stuff. Better if you can defo smell oil.

ringlands wont cause smoke out the exhaust mate plus youd know if it were them by the sound (boxer engine), blue smoke on cold start up and engine breaking is stem seals, blue smoke on idle is turbo seals
