mowgli123
Right guys I have another problem yet again... Was driving and put my foot down for abit.. Stopped and saw some sort of brown watery type of leak under the car. I though it was coming from near the exhaust between engine and gearbox. Or could it be coolant?? It was on my gearbox where the gear linkage is so might have flicked up. Anyone had a problem like this? Cheers
Weyro
might be coolant, mine is a reddish brown colour, your thermostat and stuff is up above the gearbox so might be from there
TurboTobz
A pretty decent way to see if it's coolant is touching it then tasting your finger, if it is it'll be sweet tasting, don't drink it though lol.Feel it is it thick and slippery like oil?

daniel_g
Feed it to a cat, if it dies then its coolant. Its cool to taste car stuff, try a wee bit brake fluid on your tongue. Tingle tingle. Seriously though, as said your thermo housing and other water pipes run just above the gearbox.

daniel_g
Check the clamps on the pipes for tightness. Thermostat O ring seal, might have failed also.

rob_bower
I've seen a couple of 4e's where the coolant pipe from the pump that runs across the back of the block has split bit it's hard to see it just keep that in mind.
