L.I.am ep82 Posted July 11, 2013 Posted July 11, 2013 My ep82 occasionally smokes rich blue smoke on idle when it's hot. help please. Quote
Jamie1st Posted July 11, 2013 Posted July 11, 2013 Mine was doing this when the turbo seals had gone on my ct9. Thats what my money is on Quote
Nanglebadger Posted July 11, 2013 Posted July 11, 2013 mine did this, was diagnosed as valve stem oil seals. prety sure Ro55ifumi had the same symptoms when his went too. Phil. Quote
StuDoc 72 Posted July 11, 2013 Posted July 11, 2013 Does it smoke heavily on start up? How is the smoke affected when you come on and off boost? Quote
Dan Barnes Posted July 11, 2013 Posted July 11, 2013 Mine sometime does this too, and when I boost and change gear theres a puff of smoke Quote
L.I.am ep82 Posted July 11, 2013 Author Posted July 11, 2013 It's fine when its initially started only after it been boosting does it smoke but not every time which is weird. Quote
StuDoc 72 Posted July 11, 2013 Posted July 11, 2013 (edited) Dan urs is the turbo.Liam id say urs is the same just not as bad.If it was the valve stem seals id expect it to release a puff on start up. Its difficult to be 100% without physically seeing it because its not following the exact symptoms of the problems. Edited July 11, 2013 by StuDoc 72 Quote
Nanglebadger Posted July 12, 2013 Posted July 12, 2013 no start up puff on mine when the valve stems went. only as the OP described. Phil. Quote
StuDoc 72 Posted July 12, 2013 Posted July 12, 2013 no start up puff on mine when the valve stems went. only as the OP described. Phil. Strange normally when stem seals go you get a puff on start up due to the oil on top of the head leaking past the seals when the engine is off and sitting and gravity takes its toll I dont doubt you though just unusual. Always good to know though. Quote
L.I.am ep82 Posted July 15, 2013 Author Posted July 15, 2013 Changed the turbo to a ct9 hybrid tong and it's stopped the smoking now having boost problems. For some reason it will only boost to 5 psi. But I had to use the original actuator from my old ct9? Will this be my problem. I'm on a standard ecu but used to get about 9-10 psi from my old turbo. The hybrid is brand new but came with no actuator. Quote
StuDoc 72 Posted July 16, 2013 Posted July 16, 2013 Leaky gasket? Or loosing boost on the intercooler piping? It could be the actuator is weak and fiddling with it removing it from the old turbo has completely fucked the diaphram but strange none the less. What mani and decat and intercooler do u have? Did u use new gaskets? Quote
L.I.am ep82 Posted July 16, 2013 Author Posted July 16, 2013 I've still got the standard top mount intercooler atm. I've got a zisco manifold and yes I used new gaskets. Quote
StuDoc 72 Posted July 16, 2013 Posted July 16, 2013 What did u do with the 2nd nipple on the actuator did u block it off? It needs to be open to the atmosphere or will be permanently on low boost. Quote
L.I.am ep82 Posted July 19, 2013 Author Posted July 19, 2013 I've found the problem there is a little play in my actuator. Don't suppose u no anyone who's got an adjustable actuator for the ct9 hybrid? Quote
Liam_D Posted July 19, 2013 Posted July 19, 2013 How you mean play in the actuator bud? As they do have a little bit of movement when not on boost? Quote
