occasionally smoking on idle when hot!

Recommended Posts

Dan urs is the turbo.

Liam id say urs is the same just not as bad.

If it was the valve stem seals id expect it to release a puff on start up.

Its difficult to be 100% without physically seeing it because its not following the exact symptoms of the problems.

no start up puff on mine when the valve stems went. only as the OP described.

Phil.

Strange normally when stem seals go you get a puff on start up due to the oil on top of the head leaking past the seals when the engine is off and sitting and gravity takes its toll I dont doubt you though just unusual. Always good to know though.

Changed the turbo to a ct9 hybrid tong and it's stopped the smoking now having boost problems. For some reason it will only boost to 5 psi. But I had to use the original actuator from my old ct9? Will this be my problem. I'm on a standard ecu but used to get about 9-10 psi from my old turbo. The hybrid is brand new but came with no actuator.

Leaky gasket? Or loosing boost on the intercooler piping?

It could be the actuator is weak and fiddling with it removing it from the old turbo has completely fucked the diaphram but strange none the less.

What mani and decat and intercooler do u have? Did u use new gaskets?
