Nanglebadger Posted September 25, 2007 Posted September 25, 2007 i know they get the nickname 'the widowmaker' because they can be a bit violent and throw u into a telegraph pole of brick wall at will! ;) tho there is no question the rev 3 ones are beautiful!Phil. Quote
SiCaln Posted September 26, 2007 Posted September 26, 2007 yea that happened to a mate of mine on a roundabout, he's ok now tho not to keen on em Quote
sl8ter & jett Posted September 26, 2007 Author Posted September 26, 2007 im just trying to get somthing i have never had before and i just wanted to know if they are anny good .what makes them bad then e.g 'the widowmaker' is it because they handel like sh.t Quote
Mikey Jay Posted September 26, 2007 Posted September 26, 2007 Think they're just a bit twitchy in the wet etc.Surely as long as you're not driving like a plonker you'll stay on the road? Quote
Raffi Posted September 26, 2007 Posted September 26, 2007 The rev 3 model, is strengthend in the chassi, so there is alot less body roll, and they have alot of grip even in the wet on standard suspension. And if you fit som coilovers and some stronger strutbraces, the the car would handle even better. But remember that it is not af drift car, it is really dificult to controle the drift because of the weight distribution (engine in the midle).MR2 got the widowmaker name, because there were alot of stupid idiots driving them, without any skills, so affcourse the ended in ditches and on telegraph poles :-) and that were the first ones, without the original chassi modifications as in the rev3. SiCaln Posted September 26, 2007 Posted September 26, 2007 and now u know children no seriously nice to know - cheers raf Quote
Raffi Posted September 26, 2007 Posted September 26, 2007 You are welcome :-)A friend of mine is building a US imported mr2 with a bit over 500bhp on a rev3 engine, just for daily use, hehe with alot of HKS parts. And I know another guy to with a original rev3 mr2, so we have been talking a bit about the handling of the car. Quote

Mikey Jay Posted September 26, 2007 Posted September 26, 2007 I beleive Rev3 is one of the facelifts of the Mark 2 MR2(I think) Quote
Raffi Posted September 26, 2007 Posted September 26, 2007 Yup it is a facelift of the mk2 mr2.The difference is some more braces under the car, a better chassi and a better and stronger engine. Quote
sl8ter & jett Posted September 26, 2007 Author Posted September 26, 2007 so do you no what year the rev 3 started from or is that asking to much lol Quote

sl8ter & jett Posted October 1, 2007 Author Posted October 1, 2007 i nearly was gona buy this but i changed my mind for some reson http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...A:IT&ih=001 Quote
Guest Enzo Posted October 1, 2007 Posted October 1, 2007 yea i think they go up to rev 5 or six, as has been said stear clear of the first two revisions, the brakes are inferior on these models alos, they are balistic standard and the driving experience is very rewarding with the engine and bov tishing to the back of you.i could never trust myself with one. sl8ter & jett Posted October 1, 2007 Author Posted October 1, 2007 cheers dude looks like may be an another rx7 then lol Quote
NightSpirit Posted October 5, 2007 Posted October 5, 2007 Sl8ter,I used to own an MR2 Turbo, revision 1 standard when I bought it...very quick car out of the box whole different league to the EP.In standard guise it would get tail happy in the wet if you pushed it with nasty snap oversteer (due to it being MR layout). But once modified it gripped beyond belief. My car ended up running 380.3hp at the wheels with 303 lb/ft torque and nothing I ever met on the road could keep up and a fair few tried. Great car. Here's a few pics of 'the beast'http://www.imoc.co.uk/forums/garage.php?mo...p;image_id=3125http://www.imoc.co.uk/forums/garage.php?mo...p;image_id=2235http://www.imoc.co.uk/forums/garage.php?mo...p;image_id=3127 Quote
