Chris Green Posted October 9, 2013 Posted October 9, 2013 My PC is infected with one of those fake security site Trojans. Tried a few things with no joy. I should also say I'm using windows 8. Tried booting in safe mode and using autoruns, no success. I'm giving Norton Power Eraser a go now. Have also tried system restore, the virus won't let it restore. Anyone got suggestions? I'm not a PC wizz, but know a few things. Quote

morgey Posted October 9, 2013 Posted October 9, 2013 Did you run the malwarebites in safemode?Mine was doing this, ran it normally to no avail ran it in sm and it found loads, most weren't anything but it got rid of the virus that way Quote

Addymk2 Posted October 9, 2013 Posted October 9, 2013 Some viruses pop up in the task manager as active programs, is it in there? Some require specific software to shift. Close anything non essential and then have a look in there for anything that looks abnormal. Quote
