Cheznutter
another problem arghhh just taken the gt out for its first spin wont boost past .5 of a bar its ment to be a 1 bar spring in the waste gate it is a cheapo fleabay waste gate is this the problem do you think? is there a way of bypassing the waste gate to see if it is indeed what is causing the problem ? or shall I just take it off and see if it does boost over .5 of a bar ? I no thats risky or is it just stupid ?

Cheznutter
haha hopfully not a bit of smoky smoky at the moment maybe the turbo is giving up even though its relatively new
yaristurbo
You could disconnect the waste gate and go steady watch the boost gauge and see is it will make the boost
Cheznutter
so just disconect the pipe or the whole unit ?
yaristurbo
Pipe should make unlimited boost but just 3rd gear and wind it on really steady don't go over what it's mapped to
Cheznutter
right discomected the pipe and it boosts fine so definatly shitty waste gate I guess
daniel_g
Is the EWG all chocked up with carbon shit ? Strip it down, give it all a good clean and rebuild it back up. Worth a shot before you go spending out on a new one.
Cheznutter
well its new itself so it should be fine
Rob H@RCH Engineering
If it works with the pipes off its more than likely piped up wrong or the spring is too weak. Id say the spring is too weak.
Cheznutter
thats my bet im in contact with the bloke at the moment hopfully hell sort me out a new spring ... probably get a new one anyway ..buy cheap buy twice
