Burns9213
Hi guys looking for a manual box for new year and was woundering if the g6 carolla box will fit as I have a auto in atm or am I best off getting a starlet gt box (c52) if that's correct
richglanzav
as far as i know the 6 speed box is a fairly simple swap, its a bit of a grey area whether it can cope with decent power though. theres no real reason to go for the 6 speed over the tried and tested GT box in my opinion unless you just want something different. GT box is much stronger and will handle as much power as u like.
Burns9213
Ok thanks I'll stick with what you guys know and is it the c52 one with the longer 3rd to 4th ratio or am I making things up again lol
DevonGT
It's the C56 Glanza box and those gears are shorter.
Azz
Right then gents C52 gt box has longer 3rd and 4thC56 glanza has a weaker 3rd and 4thG6. Corrola the 6 speed is much shorter and helps with acceleration which totally transforms the car, all you really have to do is a slight mod on the gear cables pretty simple though
DevonGT
The shorter gears in the C56 are a good thing for some people and certainly not weak. If anything the G6 box is weak and the G6R being a bit stronger.
Burns9213
So am better off with the c52 box are they bolt on or do I need to check my auto not bellhousing an see if it's right set up noob to this
DevonGT
I think they bolt straight on, of course your need a lot of other parts as well.

JayJ
You can use auto ecu with manual box :-)
morgey
Flywheel.Flywheel bolts (autos are shorter)Clutch kitMaster and slave cylindersClutch linesSelectors and cablesPedalGearbox with release forkYou will need to link the neutral start switch to trick the ecu into thinking its in park so it actually starts but that's about it. Burns9213
Thanks guys so when I remove it I'll leave it in neatural and so on cheers
morgey
Naa that doesn't matter, on the plug that goes on the auto box the 2 thickest wires need connecting together. That just tricks it into thinking its in neutral. Neatest but most time consuming way is to do it right at the ecu and then you can remove all the autobox wiring from the engine bay. You can also get rid of the aircon wiring if you feel like it.
Burns9213
Yeah that's my next mission removing air con pump as the gas canister has been removed but not the pipeing :-s
