hough39 Posted January 25, 2014 Posted January 25, 2014 Right I've got abit of a dilemma I've been after a starlet for a few weeks now for around the 3grand mark but not a lot for sale that are tidy at the moment in budget, and my brother has just offered me his 54plate face lift model civic type r ep3 60,000miles for £2,500 body work abit tatty but not bad and pretty much been in the family from new so I know the history of the car!Pro's Newer more modern carMore room for baby etcFamily ownedLow mileageCheaper than most 54plate I've seen for sale Lowish mileageCon'sI've had a 300+ bhp glanza before that wasted the civic everywhereI'm not really a honda fanI want a starlet really Quote
AdamB Posted January 25, 2014 Posted January 25, 2014 £2500 for a facelift CTR, I'd bite his hand off lol. Quote
Socks Posted January 25, 2014 Posted January 25, 2014 That's cheap... I have both cars. A Glanza & a EP3 Type R.. I'd choose the Glanza over a EP3 Type R any day of the week. It sounds like you know what you want to do already tbh, once starlets are in the blood, you cant get rid! Quote
Zeldoz Posted January 25, 2014 Posted January 25, 2014 Had a N/A starlet. Sold it all, bought a 04 Facelift EP3. Great, modern and quick car.But it lacked the character. Sold it in October last year, and bought a Glanza. Hand on heart, I've never looked back! Quote
hough39 Posted January 25, 2014 Author Posted January 25, 2014 I'm goin few a mk1 gt on Monday, if that's no good I might just get the civic as mrs likes that better Quote
Phil Posted January 25, 2014 Posted January 25, 2014 if you have kids and missus id buy a decent daily wagon and not look at either those two options. only if i had the funds for a toy would i buy the starlet (most def over the ep3) Phil Quote
shorty Posted January 25, 2014 Posted January 25, 2014 Buy my 5door ep85 4wd starlet, then turbo convert it. 4wd turbo starlet madness with easy room for the baby. Job done. Quote
hough39 Posted January 25, 2014 Author Posted January 25, 2014 Had a caldina Phil and sold it as mrs got the family car now mate, and baby rearly go,s in mine, and I would shorty but couldn't afford to turbo it :-( Quote
shorty Posted January 25, 2014 Posted January 25, 2014 Is a shame as you'd turbo it for 500quid with easy and 4wd grip is crazy. But if its not ment to be then its not ment to be. Id personally of kept the cadina. 4wd turbo beats fwd turbo every time. Quote
Ryan-11 Posted January 25, 2014 Posted January 25, 2014 Ive got both and would have the ep3 over the glanza as a daily driver, its a lot more comfy, less rattles, drives better, better engine, all imo, but sounds like you have you're heart set on another starlet! Quote
jayep91 Posted January 26, 2014 Posted January 26, 2014 Loved my ep3 had more fun around the lanes in that then I ever did in my gt35 glanza Quote
Scott-EP Posted January 26, 2014 Posted January 26, 2014 Ive had 2 GT's.. Had an EP3 and going into a Glanza..Id say starlet all day long, Civic got a tad boring tbh was ultra reliable though! Quote
1991 starlet owner Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 (edited) To be honest mate you can drive most things to be alright on fuel, it's in your driving style, but the civic could get boring.. Comfort is lovely but isn't the same! Buy what you actually want! Do not buy something that you think you should and then be unhappy! Waste of money and time. IMO- your mrs will come round;)Tom.
