Think my headgasket is blown. Been pricing things like gasket kit head bolts oil pump waterpump t/belt kit etc. Confident enough to strip down and change head gasket myself. But at the minute i only have £1000 to spend so cant stretch to forged bits. Question is am i better to spend all my cash rebuilding it with stock internals and new pumps etc. Or is it best to save that bit extra and buy a SECOND HAND forged engine ???

Yea but i wouldnt want to just put forged pistons and rods into the old block with old pumps and belts. Closer to 1700 ive worked out. And thats just parts !! Thot u have to skim head and block etc. Probs gona keep saving in hope forged lump pops up. Doesnt happen often tho.

Try browner hes always got forged lumps coming in, as above it will cost nearly £2k to get it done properly, block work, parts and then bits and bobs and new tools if you havent already got what you need

Ryt now i just want a reliable base. It was my first car so dont plan to sell it. I've just got ks rom ecu. Plans wer to take stock turbo to bout 1 bar push for 200 lol. But now i really dont know wer to go.

Well 1bar on a ct9 is pushing it! That was my setup and the engine let go. Personally go forged .8 bar then upgrade from there I've had my GT 3 years now and I'm going forged 300bhp build

I don't trust E series engines as far as I can throw em tbh, forging would always be high on my list of priorities and spanking £1000 into a stock engine seems a waste to me. I would be looking for a second hand forged motor, can pick them up for around £1500ish, always handy if you want to do more mods later on.
