RobSR
New knock sensors from toyota are blooming expensive from what i can remember. Phone them up with the part number and they'll tell ya. Get a working one from a breaker on here. And like said, no crank sensor. What problems have you been having thats making you think the knock sensor needs changing? Taggy
I have got a spare knock sensor you can have for £30, i bought another one and it turns out there is nothing wrong with it to start with so I am back to the drawing board with my current fault, must be the wiring or ECU. BIGGFOOT
its idle'ing very lumpy and a mechanics been and looked at it. had overheating issues recently that I thought id cured but still does it when give it some or go up long hills, ive got a civic half size rad but its only single core might try a d.i.y mount for now see if it is the rad. cheers tag I think idrees has sorted a new one for that but im not 100% on that as he hasn't wrote bk since
BIGGFOOT
also smokes a bit now don't think its headgasket as compression results were 170/165/170/
russ78
if your knock sensor is detecting a knock your oil breather pipe is blowing off and you have whisting from the breather, and now your smoking......... dude I hate to say it but it really doesn't sound like a very healthy engine I would take it to another mechanic to get it looked over
BIGGFOOT
I know mate its a pain in the arse! it will just make it all the worthwhile when its done, keep getting sidetracked from what I should be doing buying better brakes etc for instance
daniel_g
Knock sensors are over 150 new and tbh it doesnt sound like thats the problem anyway.Unless you are getting EML and code 52 faults ??Sounds like you have excessive crankcase pressure if the breather pipe blew, and with it overheating and smoking i'd be looking at doing a sniff test just to rule out a HG on the way out. Just before you go spending out on a knock sensor for no reason
RobSR
Doesn't sound like knock sensor to me. Overheating under load usually is a sign the HG is on the way out..
BIGGFOOT
cheers lads back to the drawing board
BIGGFOOT
whats eml dan? im hoping it starts running smooth again when I sort breather pipe out, will sniff test just to make sure, and gna try my civic rad aswell see if mines blocked up still
