brendonware
Just got myself another JAM ECU and was thinking about taking my emanage blue out and selling it on, is it easy to take out and how much do they go for these days? mine has probably only done about 300 miles lol and only a few months old, suppose i would have to sell it with the 3 bar map sensor and the harness that gets wired into the standard ECU, is there anything else im missing? richardc9052
I don't know about others but I'd prefer the piggyback custom mapped to the car than a plug and play.. Why the change in management?
brendonware
Loads of people were rating the JAM ecu, Well ive been having a huge problem with my car for the last few months and i suspect its over fueling (but not certain) im becoming a desperate man! Its either the management or the fact i have error code 31 on the dash but no one seems to know anything about it! tbh i just want someone to fix it! Brendon
Bristol glanza
Let me know if you decide to sell it on
brendonware
ok mate! I see you are close too Brendon
Bristol glanza
Not far in bristol, will I have to map it after I have plugged it in? Wanto fit an adjustable actuator also so if you have one maybe we can sort a deal?
Fozzie
Personally I would've thought a JAM ECU would be a downgrade from an EMB. As said, an EMB is properly tuned to your car while a P&P is just a generic setup. Why don't you just get the map adjusted on your EMB? brendonware
I would prefer that! Just I don't know where I can take it locally, short of taking it back to tuning developments I don't know anywhere closer that could have a look at it for me!Brendon
Fozzie
Personally I would just make the trip, even if it's a long drive. Selling the JAM would easily cover the fuel and mapping cost to get the EMB running right and when it comes to fuelling you really want it sorted by the best
Bristol glanza
True there is now one within 150 miles that specialise in our cars down here, I may have to make the trip myself to tuning developments welcome to join me if you like ?
Fozzie
Not just Tuning Developments either, there's also RaceTech and people have been giving awesome feedback for Will @ RDT, so do a bit of reading around before you make a firm decision. All will involve a pretty hefty drive though lol
Jamie5414
I would prefer that! Just I don't know where I can take it locally, short of taking it back to tuning developments I don't know anywhere closer that could have a look at it for me!BrendonAny place with a rolling road and able to map a piggyback It's not rocket science, a map is a map, fair enough tuners that have done starlets before may be able to push it a tiny bit more, and get it done quicker, but is it worth all those miles? Especially with some of the feedback posted around! I would say no.
Fozzie
Tbh a quick Google search will bring up a fair few companies around that can deal with aftermarket ECUs, like Jamie said, a remap is just a remap after all.Personally, I would consider it to be easily worth a day a on the road to end up with a quality map though. After all it's not just peak figures, it can affect the whole drivability and long-term reliability of the car too so I would rather take it to someone with some specific previous experience. That's just my 2p though, it's just what each owner prefers. There is definitely mixed feedback out there for almost every firm, hence why I'd recommend reading about before making your choice. I've read only good things on here about Will @ RDT recently so if it were mine, that'd be my choice. You certainly have no shortage of options nationwide though and I'm sure you could find someone competent who is less of a distance away Edited May 18, 2014 by uberphil88
brendonware
Yeah i agree with you guys on getting the map right as it is pretty crutial to the whole car and really considering a drive up north, but if my fuelling isnt right and it decides it wont start half way im stuck! who would be competent enough to look at my error code 31 issue? as far as i understand the map sensor wires, live, earth and the signal wire have to be all check and potentially re wired, but again i dont know who i can trust Thanks for all your "2ps" guys and Bristol glanza i may have to take you up on your offer Brendon
