scottieboi94
When i boot it around i have coolant sprayed around the engine bay, any ideas what this could be? I was thinking possibly headgasket or air in system? i had a compression test the other day and it was fine so not sure. I have only noticed the problem yesterday when i was sticking at about 100mph + for quite a while on the way home, when i pulled up i noticed the coolant in thew engine bay. I rebled it today and it is still spraying coolant out.
H_D
if its mainly around the gearbox area its probably leaking from your thermostat housing.I would also check all the water hoses/pipes and overflow bottle.
iamlegend
another fix replace the rad cap..could be that...
scottieboi94
I think i may have blown my headgasket on the motorway from all pressure i put on the engine causing it to put pressure in the radiator :L It took a lot to make it spray first time and then it did it yesterday after i put my foot down for about 1 minute. if its mainly around the gearbox area its probably leaking from your thermostat housing.I would also check all the water hoses/pipes and overflow bottle.I will check mate, the overflow bottle is pretty full but not near the top should it be full? another fix replace the rad cap..could be that...The rad cap is pretty new mate and it can take up to 1.1 bar which is above standard but you never know it could be that haha
H_D
overflow should be empty.
TimD
I had a leaky radiator on my GTiR once, and I noticed it because my screen was getting wet but it wasn't raining outside. Run the car up to temperature, let it sit idling and have a poke around, you'll find where it's coming from easily.
aaddzz123
Everytime I booted mine for a period it would push water out the overflow bottle.
scottieboi94
So do i need to empty my overflow bottle then?
TimD
Not unless it's over the MAX mark.. Just stick your head under the bonnet when the car is running, should be easy to spot a leak.
scottieboi94
There aren't any leaks from what i can see on idle, its only when the its under pressure that it sprays and even then its not much coolant, it just looks a lot the coolant is burning off and there is loads of steam coming out my bonnet lol
Ollieh17
Im having this problem too. Seem to be getting coolant on the coldside intercooler pipes. Only started happening after fitting a half rad. So suspect its a hole in a pipe somewhere
yaristurbo
Water pump and belt flicking it around was it raining?

Only started happening after fitting a half rad. So suspect its a hole in a pipe somewhere It may be because you have gone to a smaller rad which may have reduce cooling effiency. This may cause more pressure which may cause the problem you have mate but I could be completely wrong
