BenV
i dont mean to sound a piluck but wot fuel does a glanza run on? ive been running mine on shell v-power because the guy i bought it off said this but its getting very expensive and was wondering why normal unleded wouldnt do! RobSR
thats because jap fuel is 100 RON, and V-Power is one of the closet things to it, so it should preform just aswell Rob
paul w
Run it on super or don't drive it. normal is fine for a short time if super isn't availableunless of course you don't mind a buggered engine.
RobSR
running it on lower grade is not going to 'bugger' it IMO, as the ecu has a range for fuel RON's that it will operate normally on...

Rich
Shell V-Power is 97-Ron, Tescos Super is 99-Ron, BP-Ultimate is 102. I swear you can get it maped to take 95 Ron though or just retard the ignition timing a bit...
sam_turbs
so because i put normal fuel in for six months when i was skint is that why my bigends are gone?
briggers
so have i know messed my engine up. i hope not because im skint
Rich
Do the 4e-fte's have knock sensors? If they do then you may be ok..
sam_turbs
so have i know messed my engine up. i hope not because im skintdunno maybe it did perform a lot better when i had the v power petrol isn't it? maybe i was just unlucky it may be just one of them things lol
sam_turbs
knock sensors? mine just suddenly started knockin and just lost all power just like that its now sat on my drive awating repair what a biatch!!!!
NightSpirit
Calm down people....Jap fuel is a higher ron yes, at the end of the day engines perform best when using fuel with the octane rating they were designed for...but a stock EP82/EP91 won't be able to take advantage of the higher octane benefits really...so running a stock EP on pump gas (95 ron) is fine. I ran my EP82 a few years back on that, no problems, we've run the glanza V on 95 ron for over a year and no problems. A short lesson in fuel and research octane numbers (ron) courtesy of me )so who is ron? ron is a measurement of how resistant gasoline is to premature detonation (the dreaded knock). So using a fuel with a higher ron lets an engine run at a higher compression ration without experiencing knock. And as we all know, compression is related to power. So in short, a stock EP will not need over 95 ron imo...but, let's say you have an aftermarket turbo, more fuel going in and a programmable ECU, you can get your car mapped on 98+ ron fuel to take advantage of the extra resistance to det that fuel has (more fuel in, more compression, more power). That's also why most track/race or big power cars have a map setup for C16 or similar race fuel that's over 110ron...as an example my friends car, made 550hp on C16 race fuel and 400hp on 98ron fuel...but at 60 quid + for 20 litres, it's not a daily driver thing The end
*STONEY*
Always run mine on v power
RobSR
v-power is 99 not 97 also the BP 102 ultimate is 2.50 odd a litre and they dont stock it everywhere, the BP ultimate that they have everywhere is 98 ( i think)
shelly_star
any sort of super unleaded will do, i normally use Vpower or Tesco when iam feeling broke.
BenV
good news if you dont know guys shell have a points card so you can gain points to get fuel vouchers.it called shell drivers club.its good knowing your gona get something back after spending all that money. Rich
Shells the cheapest in my area anyway (well sainsbury's is but they still sell 4 star) but it never has any fuel in it...
NightSpirit
lol everyone ignores my comment...YOU DON'T NEED V-POWER OR ANYTHING OVER 95 RON ON A STOCK EP82/
Rich
Comment what comment? I must of missed that... Joking P.S. I don't use it anyway, waste of money
shelly_star
lol everyone ignores my comment...YOU DON'T NEED V-POWER OR ANYTHING OVER 95 RON ON A STOCK EP82/91I didn't ignore it i actually read it, so what actually happens to your car if 95ron is put in, i heard from some people that the car doesnt really take it well, my car is near enough stock, but is it risk to try? NightSpirit
good lad....save yourself some cash. I have a friend who works for Shell Oil, even he admits that the high octane fuels are pretty useless unless a car is modified.I think it's a placebo effect, put in place by petrol companies...'use our fuel, your car will be faster'.Anyone see the fifth gear fuel test video done at thor motorsport? only a tuned Impreza made any gains on BP ultimate
NightSpirit
Shelly,Honestly...I run the Glanza every single day on the cheapest fuel there is...like tesco 95 ron regular unleaded. If you wear a pair of det cans, there's very little knock going on even under full load. So I say, you're safe to use it. Only use the good stuff if you're running higher boost etc as above...just hate to see people waste money
Mikey Jay
I'll still use V-power, as it smells funny
sam_turbs
v power still gives you more acceleration more throtle response i wouldnt worry bout putting normal fuel in it shouldnt make much difference to your cars engine.
