Ollieh17
Fitted my new td04 and it wont boost above 0.1bar. Beyond that is makes a high pitch squeeling noise. I have tested for boost leaks by covering the turbo intake, this lead to one of the intercooler pipes sucking in on itsself. Looked at this pipe and couldnt see any rips etc?!? Is the leak likely to be before or after this silicone?!?Pissing me off now, old turbo was smokey so swapped it. Now no boost. Just want rid of the car Edited August 1, 2014 by Ollieh17
Dean_mc88
surely if its collapsing in on itself it has no leaks, does the car cut out when this happens? if not maybe blockage somewhere, if it does cut out then no boost leaks.

Zeldoz
you sure you got stuff plumbed in correctly?...
Ollieh17
Yuppp only took the hotside off the car and put back on the same as before. Sounds like a massive boost leak that would be pretty noticeable
daniel_g
Did you touch the wastegate at all ?Other than that the turbo may be fucked.
Ollieh17
Nope wastegate is welded and as it was im sure. If its the wastegate it would make a distincitve noise right, like gas leaking through screamer etc?
daniel_g
Aye it would make a leaky hissing noise. Is the EWG boost ring sitting right ?
Ollieh17
The ring did fall out when fitting but put it back in. May take it off and have a look again. Just praying it isn't the turbo...again
daniel_g
Just check the ring sits totally flush and seals properly.Could be an easy fix for ya
keirz
A turbo so fucked it can only produce that little boost would dump all your oil in a few seconds. If you rotated the turbo then make sure that the rubber seal around the center housing is still intaked and that it is all seated back properly. Are you running a vac direct from comp nipple to side port to try wastegate spring pressure? Or is it on boost controller? It will be a leak its just a case of finding it, check manifold to turbo also.
Ollieh17
Turbo was fucked mate. A little bit of oil in the pipings
keirz
But that would not cause that low a boost level
Ollieh17
New turbo on and its fine now. Had a similar issue with a ct9 and all worked fine after swapping the turbo
