I've been looking for a cheap but reliable track day car for a while.

Trawled through the usuals suspects (Sti's, Evo's, Old Golfs etc)

And the unusual suspects (Fiat coupe, old TVR's, ex race cars)

Then I remembered a mates superb little starlet Turbo and recalled it was rear wheel drive

I've been looking around and I reckon a late Glanza V with a few minor mods should do nicely

I currently have a very tweaked Honda S2000 (320 BHP) that I have tracked but I don't fancy getting it trashed with the money and time I've put in it.

What do you think good plan or mad idea?

Firstly welcome to UKSC Mikey

Your S2K sounds a bit of a beast get some pictures up of it ;)

Just to let you know the only rwd Starlet model is the KP61, the newer GT models and Glanza are fwd just in case you didnt know :p

I cant recall anyone doing a Glanza as a pure trackday car but you would probably fall in love with it and put too much hard earned into it to thrash it :p

welcome to the club mate, i recon if your goin to make a track car id start off with an early model ep82 jut becausae its the lightest,

then after that build from there, if you have the money a glanza would be supreme

if you have any questions please dont hesitate to ask

3rd time lucky for this post

Thanks for the input guys

Just worked out it was only the very early ones with RWD. FWD is no biggie for me.

I've tracked the S2000 but don't fancy binning it and losing all the time, effort & money I've put in to it.

I'm looking to do something similar to the Glanza

A few well chosen, effective mods that make the difference but keep it looking stick (ish)

I'm aiming to make it a road legal track car I can drive to and from the tracks (I live 5 mins from Oulton Park)

I was thinking

coilovers, braces and anti roll bars

Mild engine tune (with out clutch or internal changes)

Mega diet

That's about it!

Is this the best place to post/discuss this?

light second set of alloys with track tyres

It is :p

Great for humbling a lot more expensive metal

you could say the same about an ep with a 4e-fte inside and the right choice mods ;)
