TrisK
rang dvla and hmrc they sau 20% vat plys fees. people on facebook say no vat or feesYou need to ask the DVLA to clarify, tell them that the car has previously been registered in the UK (if it has) This can exempt you from fees
Shane 08
rang hmrc they said because its been out the uk 3 years u have to pay vat unless its the origanl owner returning to the uk
TrisK
Nah wrong. From hmrc websiteRe-importing a vehicle that was previously exportedYou can get Returned Goods Relief for VAT and duty relief if you are importing a vehicle that was previously exported from the EU provided you meet all these conditions:the vehicle was taken outside the EU by you within the past 3 yearsany VAT, duty or equivalent tax had been paid on the vehicle in the EU and was not refunded when the vehicle was taken outside the EUthe vehicle has had no alteration outside the EU other than necessary running repairsThe vat was paid in the uk. And your just bring it back
Shane 08
yes u just said it your self in that text.. the origanl exporter is exempt from the tax within 3 years off re importing it.. if I brought it to the uk id have to pay the tax cus iam a new owner
TrisK
Doh. Reading failure. I missed all these conditions. My bad
turbominicooper
if it was originally from the UK the vat would have been paid when first imported
