dan106
Im just trying to find out the chassis code or generation or whatever will help me find coilovers for a certain civic! The one thats the same as a rover 45. Why do i need coilovers for this? Well, my n/a's a bit worse for wear and ive just smashed the sump and its pissing oil out, got offered a rover 45 for £100 so I couldnt say no, Just cant stand standard height cars and im trying not to cut the springs as coilys for a rover are £600! Unless anyone on here knows if theyre the same underneath? I assume they are as they look so similar Cheers!
morgey
Its an MB model civic if that helps
dan106
Balls theyre just as expensive as rover ones!
morgey
Search coilover sleeves.Theyre a threaded sleeve that sit in the spring cup and have springs with them. Pick em up for like £120 iirc
Starlet__SR
Pretty sure thats an MB1Day
dan106
Like these ones? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MEGAN-RACING-HONDA-CIVIC-98-00-ADJUSTABLE-COILOVER-KIT-/150672038358?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item2314c0d9d6
morgey
Yeah thats them. Not the best for the shocks and the ride isnt great but you dont seem to be the person to care about that haha
dan106
Aha, mate, you should take a ride in my starlet, the teins have literally no oil left in them, hitting a bumpy corner at 60 is interesting to say the least, goes sideways lovely mind! What are these sleeves like to fit? i put some on my 106 years ago but they screwed down with the damper, havent even looked at the rovers suspension yet. Theyll handle better than if i chop the springs thats for sure
Glanza-Ben
Go hondas of Devon Facebook page there's always coil over sleeves being given away or sold for like £10 on thereTo fit sleeves you remove springs and put the sleeves in place and that's it Edited September 13, 2014 by Glanza-Ben
morgey
Basically take the old spring out. Drop the sleeve in to where the spring sits, With the locking collars wound down somewhere. New spring on, topmount back on, bolt back to car. You can run without the sleeve but the shock will probably be bottoming out.Honda do have double wishbone suspension so its a little different to mcpherson which our ep's and 106's. You might want to get adjustable upper wishbones for adjusting the camber but again im sure you dont care about that too much haha
