Removing engine but leaving gearbox in car?

Recommended Posts

It's easier to leave shafts in and take out box and engine together. Just take the clip off the inner cup joint and unbolt either the ball joint or shocks from the hubs and the shaft and ball bearings should come out of the cups meaning they stay on the car ;)

na if you have an engine hoist then its easy just undo all the crap an enginemount hold it level at hight with the crane wiggle the engine to drivers leg as far as you can then start hoisting upwards slowly pulling box and engine open

top end of box and hearbox will open hold the box by hand and jack away

Done it a few times and id say its Easier to take the lot out. Just leave the green cups in the gearbox and driveshafts in the hubs trying to wiggle the engine out with the gearbox still in place its fairly tight and its only a few extra bolts to remove the gearbox
