Chops Posted December 23, 2014 Posted December 23, 2014 Hey, quick question! i have a set of rota gt3s that i stripped back from hideous turquoise to bare metal to paint bronze, then decided i liked the bare metal look and chucked em on as they were. obviously they've gone all shitty a couple of times now, and i don't really feel like wire brushing em every couple of months to keep em looking nice, but ive been told a few times by peeps that you cant just lacquer em cause it wont stick to bare metal properly. i dont want to paint em silver, i like the completely bare look, does anyone have any idea of how to preserve it? TurboTobz Posted December 24, 2014 Posted December 24, 2014 I've seen raw cars lacquered aswell as bike frames Quote
Ollieh17 Posted December 24, 2014 Posted December 24, 2014 I've had a lacqured raw bike frame before lacquer stuck fine Quote
glanzadude Posted December 24, 2014 Posted December 24, 2014 My oem Glanza wheels are bare metal for the last year and still look great. I just sanded them with fine sandpaper and then metal polished them came out great . Quote
morgey Posted December 24, 2014 Posted December 24, 2014 You would want to give them a good clean and a degrease 1st but i cant see why it wouldnt stick, unless you had polished them. My mate did a set of alloy control arms in just lacquer and they were fine for months before he put them on his car. Quote
Chops Posted December 24, 2014 Author Posted December 24, 2014 Cheers for the replys! it seems ive been lied to by many peeps, i wish id ignored em and just chucked it on when the wheels were freshly stripped, i need to faff around cleaning the damn things all up again now Quote
