Fmic td04 ecu etc...Id like to know what worry signs to look out for. Calum122 Posted January 7, 2015 Share Posted January 7, 2015 (edited) Welcome mate,literally was in the same boat a couple of months ago. Me and my brother both bought Starlets. Mine doesn't work. My brothers does. TD04 EP82. My bro went from a Type R Too (ep3) he took one drive in my starlet and sold up his beloved ep3 for a eo82. No regrets. However, it wasn't all sweet. Front wheel nearly fell off on the way home (so believe it or not) make sure the wheels are bolted on. The car smokes on hard over run (NOT TURBO) replaced turbo and it still smokes on hard over run (so valve stem seals). Gearbox crunch from cold (make sure it doesn't). They will pull hard. So make sure she's good.I've only ever driven my EP82 and the Type R. So I always make the mistake of coming to junctions in 2nd and trying to pull away, it simply doesn't have the torques of the ep3 so don't be surprised lol. Just the usual, no smokey turbo or nasty gearbox crunches. Also he's had to spend £450 on a better ecu as the TD04 was 'botched' on. Just a FPR and a FCD and that's it. So was running a tad lean.
