Tried to make a set of detcans .. then tried them on my car and couldnt hear nothing. does the pipe materialband T joint effect? to which bold did you people attach them? thanks

You want a bolt that's ideally inbetween all cylinders. There should be a bolt under the inlet manifold I believe that you can bolt them too.

What's the setup of your car? Do you have any aftermarket management that you can adjust so you can hear knocking deliberately? Do you know what knock sounds like?

yes i have an aftermarket ecu.. i know what knock is and how it sounds like. but i think the pipe material is not good for carrying sounds. i will try a stiffer pipe ans try again.

Use a donut style knock sensor and just run the signal into a small 12v amplifier into some headphones.

Use a donut style bosch knock sensor which is pretty common on nissans, then shielded cable back to a small 12v amplifier (ebay) into a set of headphones. Works perfectly. You can alternatively use a aligator clip instead of a knock sensor, just glue a small mic unit into the aligator clip and heat shrink over it. Shielded cabling is a must.

i built a set based on 2 forums

i followed this site, except i ended up placing the mic into a stud ring so i could secure it to the engine more securely

as shown in the second link

i used epoxy to stick it in the stud ring

works greats and cheap to build

i used the red/black "speaker wire" to run from the hearing aid to the stud ring/mic

never had any noise/electrical interference using it

i secure it to a 12/14mm bolt hole at the front of the head, just about midway
