Charlie28 Posted January 10, 2015 Posted January 10, 2015 Attempting to start my car today. Removed EFI and king lead and tried to crank engine but no oil from the turbo return pipe! The engine is a second hand forged motor and has been sat for a few months. I haven't cranked it repeatedly, should I continue to crank the engine? Quote
Socks Posted January 10, 2015 Posted January 10, 2015 make sure there is enough oil in there.. but with EFI disabled your quite safe to crank away until you gain oil pressure! Quote
Charlie28 Posted January 10, 2015 Author Posted January 10, 2015 Still getting nothing. Cranked over for a good while Quote
maddox710 Posted January 10, 2015 Posted January 10, 2015 Did you keep engine sealed? Or have you had sump off? Quote
Charlie28 Posted January 10, 2015 Author Posted January 10, 2015 I've had the sump off to inspect internals Quote
Charlie28 Posted January 10, 2015 Author Posted January 10, 2015 I believe so buddy. Only thing I can think is the oil pump? Quote
maddox710 Posted January 10, 2015 Posted January 10, 2015 I believe so buddy. Only thing I can think is the oil pump? You got an oil pressure gauge rigged up then? Quote
Charlie28 Posted January 10, 2015 Author Posted January 10, 2015 No mate. Not getting any oil to the turbo and removed the oil filter and it's bone dry. Quote
maddox710 Posted January 10, 2015 Posted January 10, 2015 Take the oil filte of and check if its full of oil? Quote
Charlie28 Posted January 10, 2015 Author Posted January 10, 2015 I've taken it off buddy, it was bone dry.. I then filled it with oil and put it back on. I think the oil pump isn't primed. Not sure how to prime it. Either that or it's broken. Quote
FMuscle Posted January 11, 2015 Posted January 11, 2015 Mine did the same, I finally bit the bullet, connected fuel and spark and started it. Boom oil pressure. I did double check everything first, pick up seal replaced, even a new one was dry... But started instantly, and oil light went off within a second. Quote
Charlie28 Posted January 11, 2015 Author Posted January 11, 2015 Thinking I may do the same buddy. Tried injecting oil through the filter hole but no luck as it just runs back out. All out of options now really! Don't believe the oil pump is bad. Hmm what to do! Quote
Charlie28 Posted January 11, 2015 Author Posted January 11, 2015 Also when I place my finger over the hole where the filter screws on, I'm getting no pressure blowing out. Don't know what to do Quote
fordie_glanzaV Posted January 11, 2015 Posted January 11, 2015 Had same problem earlia.. friend of mine came over earlia who built the engine. Dropped some oil in filler cap.. fired engine up oil light went off. Switched it off. Took efi out checked return and oil passing through then.. all good sinse. Just had to bite the bullet Quote
Charlie28 Posted January 11, 2015 Author Posted January 11, 2015 Managed to finally get oil pressure earlier. I removed the oil filter and place a long length of silicone hose over the hole were the filter screws on and poured oil down the other end holding it as high as possibly above the engine. I then had my mate crank the engine and bingo oil pressure! Quote
