richglanzav
hey dudes im really stuck between what to do with a car for the summer. i want to get to some shows and track action this year. ive currently got a nice little mk1 jdm eunos s special 1.6 totally standard and its brilliant. but its only got 110bhp and i really miss boost lol so my choices are sell up or swap for a decent glanza, or failing that spend some dosh on boosting the mx5. im already getting the 1.8 running gear for it but it will also need good brakes, roll bar etc, the usual stuff when you set about doubling the factory power lol. ive owned a td04 glanza but ive never been out in a properly sorted and boosted eunos and ive been told i will never look back when i do. whats peoples opinions...anyone owned a boosted mx5? My dad currently owns a BBR Turbo mazdaIt's a solid Car. 1.8 Turbo, amazing cars to drive, ain't quite as fast as a TD04 starlet. And his is a 1.8. But it's a different kind of fast. So it's all really what you want. Also he spent a fortune turboing it. And the money he spent turboing it could have had a forged Glanza. But he didn't want that. He wanted a two seater roofless car. And it's a cracking motor.I've just read Ollie's post. And Yeah I agree. And I've been in both very recently. Brother has a td04 GT.
richglanzav
yeah i reckon a td04 starlet would certainly have the edge in a straight line. but not by much i wouldnt think surely.
Devs313
I vote to turbo the mazda. Very underated cars. But can be really good track and weekend toys if setup properly.

Well I've been in both and the Starlet would smash the Mazda. I'd say it would smash it round a track to. You also get four seats. But there is DEFINITELY something special about driving the mazda. From where you are sat to the fact it's rear wheel drive. It's a hard choice. But for the money, you'd get a higher spec Glanza, that''s for sure.
Ollieh17
The price for a n/a mazda and turbo mazda seems like a big jump normally 2-3k, when the turbo kits arent that much.Other thing about mx5sis rust, rust, rust

I own a gt and a 5 and think if I spent the same money on that instead of the gt you'd have one good all round carNot saying I don't love the gt cause I wouldnt change it for the world 😄
Calum122
That would make for an interesting race. Two stock cars against each other. Both 130 bhp. I know who I'd put my money on. As said there is something special about the driving of a mx5
richglanzav
I know i cant explain lol but there really is. Just something about the way they drive Is addictive just needs some power

richglanzav
well guys i have been over to 5-speed mx5 specialists in hucknall and had a ride in one of their demonstrator cars, a turbo 250bhp mk1 eunos. im totally stumped now lol lined up next to a well sorted td04 starlet in something like a 3rd gear pull im not sure there would be any difference - even though thats where a high spec starlet shines. but i can defo say the eunos has much better handling and the chassis handles the power far better. bit silly to compare really as one is RWD. pretty funny how over engineered they are. im looking at similar money to own either a td04 glanza or a FM eunos. anyone wanna give me some money or a high pay job so i can afford both?
