ChristopherEP70
Well lads the rubber seal around the timing cover came off and got caught around the oil pump so it caused the timing on my 4efe to jump so would I be right in saying if I lined up the bottom timing mark and line up the top timing mark put on a new belt it should be okay ? The belt didn't come off and the oil pump doesn't seem to be damaged
AdamB
Will be fine, their non-interference engines. So just time her up whack a new belt on and away you go
russ78
just check timing points as above will be fine buddy Edited February 19, 2015 by russ78
Rob H@RCH Engineering
If its a 4efe like you say you will probably have bent valves, the 4efte is non interference but the 4efe is and will bend valves.
Charlie28
I just took a timing belt of a 4efte and the timing seems to be miles off! If i just follow the below guide before fitting the new belt that should be ok? http://mearcatmini.blogspot.co.uk/2010/07/4e-timing-belt-change.html
ChristopherEP70
The 4efe is non interference too going putting on a belt today so be grand then
Rob H@RCH Engineering
As the pistons in the 4efe are domed unlike the 4efte ones you will fined they are a interference engine. I know I have built plenty of these engines to have seen this before! It was only last week I was showing aaddzz123 (Adam) a 4efe piston I have in the shop that has strike marks on it from the valves lol you may be lucky but chances are it will have hit! Rob H@RCH Engineering
This is at the side of a wiseco piston but as you can see the piston crown is much taller on the n/a piston and the crown goes into the head pocket at tdc.
Charlie28
If the timing is out, is it just a case of rotating the camshaft sprocket (4E mark to hole) and Crank to mark on oil pump?
