crawleysam
So I got my Gt turbo on the road friday, and since driving it I noticed its severely lacking in power. Especially compared to my old GT which had no more modifications really Feels like the turbo has no kick, and the HI/LO modes are barely distinguishable. It compares more to my NA then my old GT Any ideas why? Not overly smokey or anything It has FMIC, dump valve, air filter and thats about it, but the dump valve doesnt really make a sound Only has standard boost gauge but it never reaches 0? Example of lack of power, was going up a not too steep hill at 40mph in 3rd, put my foot all the way down and the car wouldnt go any faster And before it wouldnt go past 80, just felt like had no power at all. Quite odd to find this. Also relative to my old GT it uses barely any fuel? Good thing maybe? Any advice or help would be great Thanks In advance, Sam
Bean
have you checked the timing? thats something i would have a look at and get a timing light on it.
crawleysam
I havent checked it no, but it seems to be running all good. Idles smooth and revs nicely just nothing to back it up
Socks
Have u got a boost gauge? Is it building ANYTHING? Boost Leak?
5T4R7ET N/A
If the boost gauge never reaches 0 then your not hitting boost. Check your intercooler pipes and vacuum pipes that go into turbo and solenoids.
crawleysam
Have u got a boost gauge? Is it building ANYTHING? Boost Leak? Just the standard one in cluster, it does move it just doesnt reach 0, but Its probably not 100% calibrated anymore, i thought it could be that. It does have a blitz turbo timer fitted would that give any indication as to a problem? If the boost gauge never reaches 0 then your not hitting boost.Check your intercooler pipes and vacuum pipes that go into turbo and solenoids. I thought it could be vac as the BOV makes nearly no noise, just a bit of sucking/whining from intercooler
Socks
Movement below 0 is Vaccum... (IE Before you come on boost) So your making NO Boost. If that gauge is accurate Sam... Boost Leak, would be my first port of call!
Ollieh17
sounds like mine on two occasions, both times turbos were knackered

I will check all the joinings tomorrow and see if there are any leaks sounds like mine on two occasions, both times turbos were knackered Turbo would be a good call, but does it not have any signs like smokey exhaust or some noises? Ollieh17
Both times for me there was no smoke, because the turbo was making no boost. It just made a whinny noise. Would have to be a big boost leak to make no boost at all
