koolza132
so here goes sorry for the late uploads been busy with work and working on the car, This is how the car was when i first bought it engine bay was a mess, manifold was basically a mass of poorly welded bits and just needed an overall tidy up. (As you can see in this pic the bonnet catch is a mess so what happened later in the thread isn't a surprise) Edited March 10, 2015 by koolza132
koolza132
As it was a front exit exhaust i decided to it to a full exhaust system and underseal it at the same time. Then my head gasket decided to Go not sure if it was due to the back pressure of the exhaust or it was on it way out, but soon after realised that none of my boost pipes where connected to the wastegate so car was overboostin by far to much which is probably the main reason it happened. luckily it was the head gasket and not the bottom end. While i had the head gasket fitted with an athena, i decided to have ARP bolts fitted due to wanting to go forged in the future also had a full service oil changes etc. So came into a bit of a hard time with money and had to hold back with sorting it all out and doing what i wanted with the car, but slowly i started doing bits first was sorting the manifold out after it started blowing and changing the turbo as the blades were chipped and whistled on boost. I also changed the front bumper to a standard one for the time being as looked odd with no spats to skirts.[/u As from when i bought the car it had no Grill i set out to buy one which i found cost alot more than i thought for a grill lol, £50 in the end :/, I also had a bit of a problem when the bonnet catch gave way flipped up and nearly smashed the windscreen going about 40mph, so i had to replace the bonnet while doing this i bought some aero catches and fitted them at the same time. koolza132
After doing all that i had done my car decided to have an oil leak which started off slow and gradually got worse and worse to the point of one day driving with a mate my alternator belt was slipping and snapped in the middle of know where, managed to get the car home but again car went to the garage to be sorted and ended up being stripped down to replace seals and water and oil pump and new belts including cam belt and a full service again oil change etc. Here it is on it way. After fixing all this and making sure all pipes where correctly connected, no leaks etc my radiator decided to Leak all over the place so had to replace it with an aluminium toyosport one as was pretty skint at this point. Here is the new manifold and radiator. I also fitted a HKS mushroom filter as the old one i had was old, squashed and not worth using. So once the car came back from the garage and i had found a new job funds where good again, i started to buy parts for the car and went about fully stripping the inside of the car to be repainted for the new 7point cusco roll cage i had bought with c pillar and 3 point strut brace. (all of which i did out in the street on my road lol) But just before i done that i purchased a polished rocker cover off a very nice guy called eric via Facebook and fitted it my self while doing the first oil change i have ever done which was I'm happy to say a success and will no longer pay a garage a rip off price to do it for me!! lol Being Fitted Catch can fitted as well. I first redone the wiring so it was alot neater and hidden in the panels rather than all over the car, then i started to remove any sound proofing that was in the boot of the car with a hammer and chisel altho i later found in the front that a flat headed screw driver worked better (i know a heat gun would of worked but doing it out in the street i didn't have an extension lead long enough so i persevered with the tedious job of slowly taking it all off) Then to the Front of the car. Nearly There!!! I have the roll cage ready to be fitted once sprayed and these items to go in the car will finish off the interior then start for the forged engine build. Here is the roll cage that will be going in the car (pics of off the guy i bought it off) I also have a Turbosmart Oil Cap on its way and some blue boost piping to colour match the piping under the bonnet and some TAKATA Green harnesses on hold me till the end of the week to be fitted once everythings in the car. koolza132
Basically I had to grind the nut off as it had seized to the arm managed to get it off but more trouble was waiting around the corner
koolza132
Managed to get it off cleaned all the old oil off from a previous oil leak I had a while back
koolza132
I followed the guide on the Toyotagtturbo.com which was very useful apart from the part where the nut gave way in between the body work and had to cut a hole inside the car on the floor to get to the nut that had come loose from its weld, I managed to with a bit of luck and working out arm lengths find it with the first cut, so just be aware if you go to fit the anti lift kits this is a common problem that can happen will upload pic of the whole and the kit installed Edited April 14, 2015 by koolza132
koolza132
Decided to get the roll cage in while i had the weekend off, also all the other struts that i had to put in as well as having the tracking done by an import company for fast road in the morning just before this. (my mate who helped as tbh it was a two person job) Finally got there wasn't such a bad job only took a few hours, used all silicone sealants on the underside plates as well as Locktite on the thread to stop them coming loose through vibration etc, Also gave the inside a spray over to tidy it up but ran out of paint so will continue that part at a later date. Also decided to get some of the wheel nuts on while we was at it. And heres some minor engine bay work I've carried out from the first pics And here she is down the white cliffs . koolza132
So i decided while collecting the engine parts i would have the car resprayed due to the paintwork not being in the best condition as well as fitting the side skirts and rear lip which would need painting anyway here are some pics of the whole shabang. Have a front lip on the way but due to the one which turnt up the day before being broken had to be sent back, so will add that on when new one is sprayed.have ordered a new tial wastegate due to the wastegate on at the moment being an unbranded one, and now waiting for the bigspend on a new Standalone ECU, Engine build and all the things that come with that. Quaiffe LSD box being fitted next week with new front wheel bearings and CV joints, and a RARB to be fitted at some point.
