I'll start the list but i've never done the conversion myself but i think you'll need the following parts from a 4EFTE;

- ECU

- Oil filter housing

- Sump

- Exhaust manifold and turbo, decat and exhaust to suit

- Injectors and fpr (can't remember if they're the same on the efe to the fte but i assume fte ones are bigger)

- Some form of intercooler

I'm not sure if the 4efe have a knock sensor but if not they would have the casting for one to be fitted. The fte ecu won't like it if there's no knock sensor signal.

Bear in mind that the compression is higher too so don't run silly boost.

There's probably loads more but one of the converted lads is better off telling you what else you need.

how big is the budget and whats the goal ???

you can turbo a 4efe really cheap

keep 4efe eletronics and just fit a emanage blue and get it mapped

just bolt on a turbo kit and exhaust to the block and weld a bung to the sump and fit bigger injectors

then over time slowly upgrade everything like fly/clutch exh

but before you do that ,AT a minimum change conrod bearings because they fail so many times on older engines

Thanks for that ... 5e Colin where would you get conrod bearings to be honest I don't have a big budget but Il stretch as much as I can to have something to last

Theres a couple older threads on this, ive written a list a somewhere.

There are a few different ways to do the conversion.

Also depends what you are actually doing, so you know what route to take. Ie. are you just putting a FE in your Glanza or turboing a N/a starlet ?

im looking to do the same my idea was to get a turbo.manifold.

pipe the oil in i was thinking from a sandwedge plate on the oil filter and return to the rocker cover.

and get a map converter (dunno where from tho)

and change the injectors for glanza ones

would this work?

no but then it will need a loom swap and ecu swap to 4efte stuff with al the sensors etc etc

I converted a lads EP91 for him last year, i did it this way with all the looms from a 98spec V into a 98 N/a.

Picked up everything from another lad breaking his V.

Was done in an afternoon.

Return to the rocker wouldn't work unless you fitted a pump as return is gravity returned

I have all the bits in the boot of my corolla only thing stopping me is i cant be arsed pulling sump as its out of test on sat so could possibly sell the set-up

I did that on my old 4efe engine, just installed turbo kit, and 4efte injectors, and mapped it with mapconverter(35 pounds)

It had 290000km on clock, ran it for almost 2 years
