Ollieh17
What have people done with the expansion tank when relocating battery/ tidying up engin bay?
Scoobysvx
I wouldn't mind a few ideas on this too tbh, think I may have a custom made one which incorporates the breather tank too
akyakapotter
Sure you can tuck it down by the front bumper sure I seen it done few years ago
mikey4410
ehh u dont need it is what u do with it. lolI removed mine within a day or so of getting car.coolant levels always been same in 2 and half years.
Ollieh17
Was thinking if its really neccessary, was gonna buy a fancy replacement tank but will probably just leave it
mikey4410
every starlet I have had I have removed it.all have been fine even after hard driving through the lanes makes no difference, still coolant remains same level.
akyakapotter
If you don't need then why did toyota include them? where dose you excess coolant go when it heats up and expands all over the floor? They are there for that reason to catch the excess when it heats up and when it cools down to create a vacuum to replace the coolant that was pushed out.
mikey4410
same as u dont need a icv or same reason people dont run a pvc.as stated above, never ever had a coolant issue wether it be with coolant level or over heating or anything of that nature.I would NEVER suggest doin the above if I thought anybody qould have even a small issue. Ollieh17
Dont have a icv, pcv or alot of things toyota put in haha

akyakapotter
Compleatly different removing icv or pcv isn't going to let coolant out over the floor lol
Ollieh17
Car never idled properly with the stuff in to make it idle properly, idles spot on when warm now its all gone
mikey4410
removing expansion doesnt make coolant come out either pmsl

Ollieh17
Anymore opinions on this?
_shaun_
a few ive bought have came with out the tanks ive always just stuck one on. it runs fine with out but its a risk at the end of the day am not prepared to take with a good few thousand at risk if any thing happened. hell you technically dont need that tank ontop of the brake cylinder you could just remove that with a small bit of pipe. it will run perfectly fine right up untill that one day it totaly fucks up and probaly kills you just my though but if its a car you take pride in id either run or have a nice custom one made up. andy91145
Can the expansion tank not just be relocated out of sight? Or does it have to be close and roughly the same height as the fed from the radiator?
