what is the normal operating temp for these engines?

I have a td04 4e with cold air intake, fmic, and triple core rad.

I can warm up to half way on idle but when driven I can only get to about 1/8 of the way up on the gauge - is that normal, I always thought half way was the best operating temp??

Half way is 90° which is the prefered tempreture... I have a triple cire aswell and id doesnt reach the ideal tempreture while cruising. But reading the water temps through my emanage it always shows 75/85° whilst tbe needle is still 1/4

Sounds like you may have a cold temp thermostat in the engine or your thermostat is stuck open. The radiator fan cuts in at 91 degrees and the standard thermostat opens at 82 I believe.

It's your thermostat I'm sure, when I drive on the hwy my temp gauge goes way down. Comes up to half in traffic but whenever I get going the temp drops. I replaced the rad cap because I thought it was that, but now I'm certain it's my thermo.

think the thermo is stuck open, i dont even have the fan attached cause spins on cold. can u fix the old ones or just get a new one?

Your better off putting a new one in. Really simple to do.

You say your fan spins on cold? Chances are that the a/c has been removed and the four pin switch behind the drivers side headlamp hasn't been bridged.
