daniel_g Posted June 20, 2015 Posted June 20, 2015 Pay petrol from Stirling and back aswell and i'll do it haha.Kidding on my daily is a 3L Quote
haggis Posted June 20, 2015 Author Posted June 20, 2015 Haha gutted ! I was near sterling yesterday Quote
daniel_g Posted June 20, 2015 Posted June 20, 2015 If you get stuck bring it down one weekend, to do it properly takes a few hours, the dash has to come out to take the evaporator out the heater box. Also get the gas removed from the system before touching it, the gas in liquid form will burn though skin and eyes. Im certified to work on AC systems. Quote
haggis Posted June 20, 2015 Author Posted June 20, 2015 Okay sweet man pm me a price and ill try fire down Quote
The_Notorious_C_A_T Posted June 20, 2015 Posted June 20, 2015 Are you wanting to remove everything or just the pump and belt setup? As just the engine bay stuff is easy enough, sure there is a guide on here. Just remember venting the ac gas need to be done properly ;-) Quote
haggis Posted June 20, 2015 Author Posted June 20, 2015 Yeh I saw the guide. However do you need to put a shorter belt on ? Didn't see this covered Quote
ChrisssAhhh Posted June 20, 2015 Posted June 20, 2015 There is a guide over on TOC aswel here's the link to it, http://www.toyotaownersclub-irl.com/t5843-how-to-remove-aircon-ep82-91-tutorial Apologys if I've breached any rules feel free to remove the link above if I've done so Quote
Cattanach Posted June 22, 2015 Posted June 22, 2015 Yeah you need the shorter belt, think it's around £10 iircI'm planning on ripping mine out and I'm slightly nervous about doing it haha Quote
Arnold Posted June 22, 2015 Posted June 22, 2015 Mine has gone, left all the dash stuff in with a couple of pipe threads sticking out into the engine bay Quote
tango123 Posted June 22, 2015 Posted June 22, 2015 done mine couple of weeks ago. so much room now an probably about 20kg off Quote
_shaun_ Posted June 22, 2015 Posted June 22, 2015 its a fairly simple job todo but if your abit nervous and dont mind a drive id pop down and see dan he's spot on and will get it sorted for you Quote
Cattanach Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 That might be an option for me! Stirling ain't that far from Edinburgh either! Quote
Johnboy GT Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 Not a difficult job bud. If you are struggling I might have some time to help you out.John Quote
haggis Posted July 6, 2015 Author Posted July 6, 2015 Managed to get this done. Wasn't actually to bad. Is fitting exhaust manifold much more of a bitch? Also when I removed the air cone pipes I left the bulkheads open to atmosphere is this okay ? Quote
_shaun_ Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 Manifolds pretty simple aslong as you have decent tools. And yea you can leave it open to atmosphere or remove the pipes by taking out the condenser under the dash and there's a wee blanking plate to cover it from Id-workz Quote
haggis Posted July 6, 2015 Author Posted July 6, 2015 Okay nice one cheers shaun. Is condenser at passenger side pretty much where the bulk heads go in ?When you say decent tools what do you mean lol. I got some shifters and spanners and sockets. Do I need special spanners ? I saw someone saying you need special spanners Quote
_shaun_ Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 yea its under passanger side you have to remove a few bits to get at it but doesnt take long. just reasonable quality tools. ive herd of people snapping sockets/extention bars/ ratchets or rounding bolts because the tools are just shit. the manifold bolts have likely been on there since they care was new so there not exactly keen to come off. Quote
haggis Posted July 7, 2015 Author Posted July 7, 2015 Yeh I had a similar problem with the pulley bolt for ac removal ( was almost permanently stuck on there Quote
Ollieh17 Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 Best thing to remember when taking off the manifold first time (issue i made) the studs and bolts are fine thread! Made my life alot more difficult Quote
haggis Posted July 7, 2015 Author Posted July 7, 2015 Cheers guys I guess it's worth replacing bolts Quote
