ReeceGolliker
Hi, apologies if this has been asked already couldn't find much information on here about break fluid. What's the best brand/type? Want something decent, without it being silly priced! Cheers for any advice
daniel_g
Toyota dot 5.1 is good enough for most people. Just do a flush yearly at the least and it will be bang on.There are obviously like aftermarket brands like AP Racing, but imo unless you do track driving then there are better ways to spend your money. ReeceGolliker
I was swaying towards that, can I buy it from a Toyota dealership? how much is it? Cheers.
AdamB
ATE Type 200, can be bought from Euro's and comes as a litre opposed to 500ml bottles. I got mine for £10 on offer, but don't think it's much more than that anyway.
Amjad
^I'm using the one Adam mentioned but will be switching to Motul RBF600/
ReeceGolliker
i can only find ATE SL6 on euro car parts, and everywhere else costs about £7 for delivery haha! id like to try get something that i don't have to get delivered

Well I got the ATE SuperBlue which is now discontinued due to it being blue in colour, the Type 200 is the replacement fluid, so maybe their doing like a swap over. Might be worth taking a trip to them asking if they got any or can get hold of it.
ReeceGolliker
Sent them an equiry about it, ATE sl6 seems pretty decent stuff? I'm not planning on going on track, maybe just a bit of spirited driving.
AdamB
Any good quality Dot 4 fluid will suit your needs. SL6 specs don't seem too bad, not a million miles away from Type 200. Type 200 :Dry boiling point - 280 degrees CWet boiling point - 198 degrees C SL6 :Dry boiling point - 265 degrees CWet boiling point - 175 degrees C SL6 will require changing more often, but in fairness if the brakes get abused I'd probably say change the fluid every year anyway. ReeceGolliker
I think I'll give sl6 a try, I'll probably be changing it next year when I get some braided hoses and new disks. Thanks for the help guys
