Countryman Posted August 13, 2015 Posted August 13, 2015 (edited) I've removed my intercooler and noticed that there is some oil left in the hose which connects to the inlet manifold and was wondering is there supposed to be oil in there? Edited August 14, 2015 by Countryman Quote
Ryan_EP82 GT Posted August 13, 2015 Posted August 13, 2015 poasibly oil from turbo seals.smokey turbo? Quote
Countryman Posted August 13, 2015 Author Posted August 13, 2015 Yes the turbo was gone so I'm just replacing it. How would I clean it out and is there anything else I need to be on the lookout for just incase oil has got in else where?I'm changing the mani, turbo, decat and intercooler. Cheers Quote
Countryman Posted August 14, 2015 Author Posted August 14, 2015 Has anyone got any ideas on how I should clean out the inlet mani? Quote
Countryman Posted August 14, 2015 Author Posted August 14, 2015 Would I have to remove the complete intake mani and spray it or just as it is and spray down from the hose side (right hand side) Quote
jellybaby Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 If u want to clean it fully better to remove and chemical wash it with degreaser etc least that way any crap in there won't go through the engine etc Quote
sbk replica Posted August 18, 2015 Posted August 18, 2015 poor some fuel in it. shake like madness with hands in the in and outlet. repeat a couple times and you should be ok! Quote
JDMfreak Posted August 18, 2015 Posted August 18, 2015 remove it remove all the necessary bits throttle body idle control valve and leave it soak in kerosene (red diesel) get yourself a few cheap brushes and give it a good cleaning you might want to give it a power wash afterwards to get it really clean but should be ok leave it to dry then refit it Quote
Countryman Posted August 27, 2015 Author Posted August 27, 2015 What would happen if I never cleaned it out but everything else was ok?Thanks to everyone who's posted. Quote
morgey Posted August 27, 2015 Posted August 27, 2015 As long as theres not too much oil i wouldnt worry, just wipe away any heavy amounts and put it back together. The breathers on the valve cover go to the inlet and take oil vapor and throw it back in the engine anyway. Maybe check for a build up around the throttle butterfly and give that a clean but it shouldn't be much to worry about. Quote
