X_Milch_X
The shock absorber has seized and i'm unable to adjust, part in question highlighted in red as the previous owner hadn't maintained them: At the moment i'm trying to gently prise it with lubricant and heat to expand but no luck so far, anyone got any ideas or will i have to shell out for a new set? IF they won't budge my Mechanic has offered to cut it to the thread and then install a new shock but this is risky .... Or will i have to bite the bullet and buy a new set? (I find the springs to hard for the road and will follow "morgey's" advice here if the above issue is resolved possible: http://www.ukstarletowners.com/topic/94863-softest-coil-over/)
morgey
I've seen Some people recommend leaving seized coilovers in diesel overnight, I've never tried it myself though.
karl.
I have a front set of bc coilovers that are bust so I may have a spare if you wana cut it off and replace it.
AdamB
If you get real stuck, you can cut the lock ring to the thread, and just get new lock rings, you won't need to get a whole new damper unit.
mccartney11
Don't soak in diesel it'll bust any rubber seals on the shock...try it in a bench vice, bar through mount holes and tap it up and down with a lump hammer to free it then go from there...did same on my d2's
_shaun_
Seen people soak it in praffin overnight that's likely your best option. Id-works can get you pretty much any part of the assembly you require if you wanted to cut the Locking rings off
X_Milch_X
All sorted ended up cutting the old mount and whacking a new one on!
