5 Door Turbo sleeper ;)

right guys this if my first ever starlet so go easy

going for a sleeper ;)

to start of with i brought it with 'bearing knock' , thought it shouldn't be to hard to fix.

how wrong i was:(

funny bearing ayy , so its dropped a rod on cyl 3 , punched though the block and sump, destroyed the crank.

so im going to rebuild it standard as im only aiming for around 180-200bhp, I've picked up another bottom end to find out thats spun a bearing on cyl 1 :@ , im going to try and polish it out but not sure if it will be usable.

plans are :

rebuild engine

FMIC

Fuel pressure regulator

fuel cut defender - untill i can afford a plug and play !!!

boost 0.8 ish

air filer relocation

BOV - just for the sound

cast manifold porting

de-cat after MOT

any comments welcome , need advise and any tips

Fuel cut is at about 0.85 bud, so wouldnt worry about the fcd. Only do more damage then good ;)

with that type of damage i would inspect the whole engine. check to see if it's even worth rebiulding

tbh, its one of the worst failures i have seen in a while.

the head seems alright i have a new block, need a new crank. nothing had gone through the turbo so heads all good

little update , got the m9 socket for removing the head. so off came the head , the valves came out , all look okay and none bent so i gave them a clean up , washed the head. all i need now is a decent crank , without breaking the bank. Question - would i need to balance the crank ? :/ i didnt think i would have to? also can i use 1 piston and rod from one engine and 3 from a different engine? i will weigh them to make sure they are all same 'ish' weight.

why would a engine have 3 number '2' pistons in and 1 number '1' in ?

the V8 in the back ground is a Dodge nascar cam rig engine ;)

No all he said is that it had spun a bearing thats it. I also wondered why he had a top mount intercooler without a scoop.

New pistons , rings and gudgeon pins for a nice £150. rods are off to get shot peened so just need me crank back, bearings and gasket set and il be ready to start rebuilding

little update

bearings ordered

cranks been re-ground .25 undersize on the big ends

purchased some used rods ready for crack testing and shot peening

all at a little stand still atm as i have to pay my mum back for insurance and its not cheap at my age :'(
