  1. I could do, im a plater by trade so it doesnt scare me, but i had a go in an mr2 the other day and they have a removable manual job that takes up nearly no extra room at all so i was wondering how involved fitting the clips etc would be. Im already going to have to take the whole headlining out and remove the rails the stock job slides on.

  2. So ive been musing about my starlet project, ive fitted impreza seats to the interior and they sit roughly where the stock jobs do,(very comfy and cheap by the way, would recommend) perhaps lower as theyre hight adjustable, but alas as mine is a sunrood model my head hits the roof :/. Ive been considering the possibility of converting my sunroof to a much slimmer manualy operated job from an mr2 etc, or perhaps even a removable one. Has anyone attempted or done any research on this? What do peeps think?

  3. Its a pretty straightforward job, that will probably turn into a more time consuming job as you go and the while its apart opportunities appear lol. Its best to just pull the engine and gearbox as one, do the swap out of the car, refreshing gaskets here and there as you go. Makes drilling a hole for the clutch master cylinder etc easy, and whe youre done you can be sure you wont have to pull it back apart for a while!

Ive literally just finished doing my own conversion, feel free to message me if you get stuck!

Got my cylinderhead back from the shop, refreshed the valves and gave it a big old skim to try and get the compression up as well as seat the mls headgaskets these use, so shiney, so chrome :).post-10502-0-90259600-1491941557_thumb.j

  5. So much sludge in the oil, but no bits of bearing or other shit. its coolant was mostly straight water, so its been leaking/burning coolant for a while and topped up i recon.

I'm hoping to god the bottom ends ok and i dont have to pull the whole thing out as i cba with that shit. found the timing cover is one piece today, and i have to take the whole lot off to check the timing is aligned ffs. id have just kept the bottom of the chain from being loose but the cover has to come off to get the head off obv and ill need to turn the crank to inspect the bores, they were pitted to fuck on my old scoob from getting too hot, caused serious blowby and destroyed the whole engine!
