  1. Yeah i've got a really decent looking decat that uses a more stock position. If I can't save the current downpipe then I may look for a local exhaust place as it's just a bit of straight pipe with a slight curve at the end.

  2. Another nugget of joy I’m contending with is the aftermarket manifold. The turbo bolts are welded, I presume to stop them coming loose.

Im carefully grinding the weld away and then undoing the bolts and nuts. Then I’ll clean everything up and black heat paint the manifold and downpipe. I’ll just fit lock washers with the new nuts and bolts as they will be perfectly fine - NO WELDING!

  3. The downpipe is a little fucked. The problem I’ve got is that the full system is a custom one from when it was imported from Japan. The downpipe extends further under the car than the stock and usual aftermarket position.

So I’m going to try and repair it, just to get it running and on the road. Then I can save up for a full system unless anyone has got a front pipe for sale?

  4. Cheers mate appreciate it. Should all tie together fairly soon.

Picked the drive shaft clips up yesterday, only £2.60 so I thought I’d may as well get genuine parts. They’re an offset design to fill the recess as the shafts are pushed in to the joint.

  5. I kind of want to re-do the bracket mate as i'd prefer it to sit the bottle a little higher and the metal is a little thin. At my last workshop I had metal folders etc but there's nothing at my current place.

Cheers buddy it is getting there now, I normally only work on it during lunch breaks and the occasional evening inbetween normal work and my degree.

  6. For the swap you may aswell buy a rough st205 as it’ll be cheaper and easier in the long run. There’s a red Corolla on YouTube that’s had the conversion and the track is slightly wider but nothing too crazy, just looks more aggressive.

Fensport were one of the first companies to do this conversion but theirs stayed fwd.

Its the same with Tuning developments- theirs was also fwd and sold on now.

there will be a lot of custom work required to mount the rear subframe correctly. If he was to stay fwd it would be a lot easier to do but obviously not as fun.

  7. Burty has got my old 98 seats which are on custom lowered rails and he’s right, they completely change the feel behind the wheel as the stock seats sit way too high. for me personally, the 98 interior is the one to in an sr as the GT seats don’t really look right.

I switched back to original GT seats from evo recaros in my GT and they are so much better/comfier so I do see the attraction.

you’ll have to open an SR museum soon! For me, the white ones are my fave, although I do love my old black one and the silver one on the sale brochure looks great too.

most eBay decals are decent enough copies but for me the green is never quite the right shade and like you said, the dimensions are slightly off.

  8. 🤣 the colour is last on the list. Think I’ve found the reason for the excess play in the passenger shaft, there’s meant to be a spring circlip located in the grove pictured below. Well there wasn’t one there so after a quick call to Toyota and £2.60, I’ll have it next weekend. If that doesn’t work then I’ll replace the whole lot but to be honest everything else seems fine so it should be a quick fix.

  9. Also begun to strip parts off ready to give the engine bay a proper clean and to fit new bits.

The turbo system is all loose and ready to remove but I’ll wait until my new set up is ready to go on.

The rocker cover has been removed and packaged up ready to send to RW-D tomorrow for a custom set up. (Even just removing the top mount makes the bay look much cleaner)

  10. Thanks, there are a few rattley interior bits that need sorting but mechanically she sounds great. As I know the car from before it was wrapped I know there’s nothing Horrible lurking underneath. Connor actually put the wrap on to protect the paint because it’s got some lacquer peel, smart move really but I wish it was black ha ha

  11. 16 minutes ago, Dale SR said:

It would have been madness breaking this, Shes in excellent condition only a few things wrong which are her rear bumper has a scuff, theres a couple of stone chips on the bonnet and one next to the rear quatre window and a chip on the windscreen, I cant fault her mechanically so far, I will get her serviced and booked in for a MOT next month.

I've been spending all day getting everything cleaned I think thats what she's needing most, A mass population of spiders has come up with the her there coming out of everywhere and the engine bay there are cobwebs connecting every part there is!

I'm not sure about selling her on, I would like to do a few subtle things to this one and drive and enjoy the SR without the worry of adding miles etc. Possibly replace my black one as my daily starlet.

Sounds like a good plan mate. Yeah spiders must be a thing with starlets, find a horrible live one hiding inside of one of my brake callipers last week!

  12. Gave it a couple of little loops in the workshop first then checked everything over. Then took it outside, I’m based on an old airfield so there’s plenty of space.

Was laughing and smiling the whole time, it sounds lovely and boosts really nicely. The wastegate is set at 124 so after reading other threads and trusting the boost gauge I’m at about 0.7 bar. Not sure what that relates to in bhp but it was hilarious.
