  1. So I’ve loosened the turbo kit ready to fit the new gasket when it arrives. I’ll mock up some intercooler brackets next week to get it all mounted up properly. Then it’ll be up on the ramp to do the sump and re-fit the downpipe.

In the mean time I’ve been sorting out dodgy wiring and tidying up vac lines- right bloody mess:

  2. I got the car started on Wednesday for the first time since Feb. Started on the button and ran really nicely. No leaks from the rocker which was great. Does have a few issues though:

. The exhaust manifold gasket is blowing (typical as it’s the only one I didn’t change because it looked spot on). Got a genuine one on order.

. Downpipe to front pipe slightly blowing but that’s ok as it needs to come of for the next issue on the list.

. The sump has a slight leak near the crank pulley.

Seen this in the flesh this week can honestly say jases attention to detail is something else and how the hell he got that interior so clean is beyond me this car will be a massive credit to him once he finishes it

You’re too kind mate thank you very much, was a pleasure to meet you in the flesh and to have a good old natter about cars

Good work with this mate, really tidy GT. Liking the front mount, looks like a good bit of kit with the short route hot pipe .

Cheers mate it seems a great fit, just wish it came with some actual mounts!

  5. Thanks for the kind comments, I’m chuffed with how it’s coming together.

with the FMIC the position of the core seems to have a decent affect on how the pipe work it routed. I’ve got it pretty much in the sweet spot suspended with cable ties. In the coming weeks I’ll get the mounts put on then secure the pipe work. After that it should be little touches and a bit of test driving on the airfield before the MOT.

  6. It’s because it’s been sat in the same place for months on end and years upon years with minimal use. Not using a car can be just as bad as over using it in my opinion. It needs saving but would take a real enthusiast to throw 3k just at the body. My hunch is that the bloke will get desperate, lower to 500 or maybe less, then we will see bits of it for sale on eBay. Eve doing that there’s hardly any profit to be had

  7. Ah thanks mate i really appreciate that. Huge soft spot for Toyotas and have had many different ones over the years.

yeah I’ve got a Bailey one sat here that I’ll fire up for sale soon- The sound and look aren’t for me.

The intercooler pipe where you cut it to make the dump valve fit, you have took the lip off that seals it. Have you roughed it up a bit so the pipe has enough grip :)

🤣 yeah it’s properly on there with a decent clamp too. But there’s only one way to find out I guess! As the metal is quite thick I’d be able to machine another small ridge anyway if I need to

  10. I’ll re-rout the vac line to tidy the bay up a bit more and then hopefully fit the rocker next week. This is how the bay sits at the moment, catch can fitted along with the powder coated strut brace and new top mount nuts.
