The droplinks are just as bad along with the wishbone to hub ball joints. Luckily I’ve got almost brand new ones that came with my spare hubs.

While I was in the process of doing that, I stripped off the wishbones. From the pictures you can see it’s been a good decision to renew everything, the bushes are totally shot

While I was refurbing the crash bar I noticed how tired the bonnet catch was looking so decided to sort that while I was at it.

I’d just like to say mate how refreshing it is to see fairly priced items for these cars. Hats off to you and good luck

Test fitted a few panels together just to see if everything was ok. The bumper and FMIC brackets are going to need a bit of trimming but should all be nice and neat afterwards.

Thanks mate, took a bit of time but she’s getting there now. As I refurb one part I keep looking at another nearby and then end up doing that too. In the process of doing the bonnet catch at the moment. 

Crash bar back on, v happy with the finish. Fitted the front lights along with new bulbs and it’s starting to almost look like a car again 

I feel that 200 in one of these is plenty for me, I’m not chasing big numbers and just want a fun reliable car. I’ve gone big with some of my other cars in the past but just ended up chasing power. More about the feel now for me. Plus, without an LSD it’s hard to get the power to the road 🤣

Get some paint or something on those new wish bones when they land as they dont get much of anything that will protect them. Im sure you are already planning to do that but just thought i would mention it.

literally an unbranded manifold and decat, stock ct9, adjustable actuator set at 0.8 bar, fpr and a front mount. It’s running the SARD R2D2 bov

Next was a job I’ve been putting off but now she holds all fluids, it was time to start cleaning the underside. Due to the oil leak in the past, things were a bit messy under one side. So far I’ve spent 3 hours under there, de-greasing and wire brushing. There’s still lot to do but everything is nice and solid so I’m removing all surface corrosion and then re-sealing. 
 

I was going to save the wishbones but they will take loads of cleaning up then painting and the bushes are totally goosed. So I’ve ordered new ones along with an anti lift kit 

While I was at it, i got carried away And decided to re-tap all of the threads for the wings, bumper and any other brackets I could find. I also removed surface rust and painted them. 

So after a months leave I started back on her this week. First job was to drill out the sheered crash bar bolts that appeared to be formed from Thor’s hammer. Literally destroyed every drill bit I own along with two drill batteries.

I decided to refurb the bar while I was at it.

Mine is randomly missing! 

In all honesty I’ve personally moved away from the all jap events. I want to go to family friendly events I can take my two boys to but the last japfest I attended just didn’t have a good atmosphere. Loads of weed everywhere (i don’t think it’s the worst thing in the world but I don’t want it around my kids), the r35 OC had pretty explicit music playing full blast and full of 1000yard stares and there were half a million mx5’s as they’re just about the only affordable jap cars left. Starlet area was still friendly though 🤣

Great bit of TLC for the workhorse mate. Makes me want to take the plunge too!
