Hello gang this is interesting on the measurements I now KNOW I need std mk 1 for the main bearings. On the big end bearings (rods) I'm getting different sizes to the chart above as it says 43. Something where mine are From cambelt size Big end 1 39.989mm Big end 2 39.985mm Big end 3 39.986mm Big end 4 39.987mm So of course there all very near each other but there not in the 43's as it says in the chart above with the big end diameter. I'm guessing you have to measure the inside of the rod bore to get the 43. What you need? Thanks guys (what a pain in the ass) Pat

It's typical Colin mate there was no bloody book with it

I do mate I have the 0.25 acl bearings from the other crank and still have the standard bearings from the crank I'm using but them ones are not oem ones, I was gonna use the telescopic gauges to measure inside the rod bores then put that in the micrometer and use the micro meter on all crank journals but there is a 25mm gap on that micrometer hence why I wasn't sure if you set it on the micrometer gauge 25mm, then wind it back to the measurements I need mate
-
hello again obviously went ahead and brought this gauge to measure the crank diameter etc on my engine rebuild........ http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Linear-electronic-digital-outside-micrometer-25-50-/321539792529?pt=UK_Measuring_Tools_Levels&hash=item4add43de91 now its a case of how to set it, I presume you set it with the little 25mm block you get with it, so it would be closing the gap as much as possible, then putting the little 25mm block you get with it once the block is in and holding you set the gauge to 25mm then take the 25mm block out and take it from there when measuring t

Make sure your 1000000% sure when putting the pipes back on sam you seriously don't want coolant going into your cylinders

Hello mate woke up this morning and went and ordered this one you put up from last night http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Linear-electronic-digital-outside-micrometer-25-50-/321539792529?pt=UK_Measuring_Tools_Levels&hash=item4add43de91"]http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Linear-electronic-digital-outside-micrometer-25-50-/321539792529?pt=UK_Measuring_Tools_Levels&hash=item4add43de91 So am sorry mate thankyou for posting the YouTube link up though very kind if you 👍

Hello Colin just to let you know I thought sod it and brought the micrometer and telescopic, let's be honest I have no choice and there's you looking for this stuff for me, and me to say I can't afford it, is certainly not what to say to you so have gone and brought both and very interested now to see what the exact measurements are 👍
-
It's surprised me alright mate thanks to Colin I have learned a lot about all this, it's a good thing to know as I wonder how many people actually know stuff like this on here when building an engine
-
Hello mate just going by what's been mentioned in my other thread on here, what advice I been given 👍 http://www.ukstarletowners.com/topic/86453-big-end-and-main-bearing-sizes/?fromsearch=1
-
I know it's a long shot but does anyone have one laying around they don't use? And want to sell it to me for a good price, obviously need it to get a accurate measurement on the crank journals so I know what size oem bearings I need from toyota, I know there's lots on line but they are pricey so just seing if anyone has a cheap one going needs to be the 0.001 25-50mm ones Thanks Pat
-
Does it actually screw in at all mate?
-
I got my oil pressure switch from id workz it's tight on but it doesn't go all the way in on the thread so if that's what you have then someone needs to quote us if this is right or not as my engines in a middle of a rebuild aswell 👍
-
I know what your saying mate everything is just costing more and more money and I haven't even got kids, I think I was alittle naive about the whole rebuilding in the first place only when I rang toyota and they ask me there's 3 sets god knows what everyone does with there rebuilds, I will be happy mate once these clearances are sorted and ordered the bearings as it's ready to go building other people engines mate and there still going about is fantastic stuff good for you 👍
-
Did you do everything right mate? All clearances etc new oil pump etc
-
I know your only helping Colin and you will never understand how much I appreciate this and your time and actually looking for me and helping but with the bearings costing ( when I get them) 175 quid of toyota plus with all the machining done, new cambelt kit, water pump, oil pump, rings, basically what a new rebuild needs it has left me alittle skint
-
I need to think of another solution mate to be honest I know it has it be spot on of course but spending more money for 2 micrometers for the crank journals and the rod/mains diameter hole size looks like it's gonna be the best part of 60-100 quid when it needs to be only done once, the only other solution is phone a engineering shop local who have these tools and ask them if they can measure the sizes I need, or someone who uses these micrometers for the trade there in and hope someone will come to the units it's in a measure that way for a price
-
Now I'm stuck mate there must be cheap gauges out there which will be used just to check the diameters etc for out diameter and inner diameter what a pain
-
Hello again mate I will get it then 👍
-
Right I found this mate http://m.ebay.co.uk/itm?itemId=370978221208 Now I know what's going on has to be 000.1 not 00.1
-
True Colin but you been such a help on this why should you put your own time in, I know your helping fellow starlets out but that's just me for you saying thankyou for helping, I just need the right tool but not expensive to do the trick they must be out there somewhere
-
You have to get the measurements right with the clearances this is what people on here are helping me with at the moment
-
Surely doing it hard would spins bearing etc no?
-
He hasn't got the tool to do it mate to measure it in the thousands, what I can do is get a digital vernier micrometer of eBay and get myechanic to measure it properly, just one thing Colin your helping me here so much of your own back so I will be getting you alittle gift of your choice at the end of it 👍

I don't know mate there place is called ams automotive machine services in West Sussex proper work shop and all that and I just rang him and he said it was rounded off to the nearest hundred not thousand, he said it could of been .5 out either way etc what a idiot
-
Jesus seems a lot of money just for a gauge this is getting headache material now
