Toyota Starlet Gt turbo Ep82 For sale is my beloved Gt turbo, I've only had the car a month or so but I can tell you it's the funnest thing I've ever driven. I am reluctant to sell but situations have changed and I am forced to get rid for a few reasons one being financial. It was first imported back in 2005; the car itself is a late 1992 model and is the second generation (mk2) ep82. It has MOT till 25/03/2015 and tax till 01/12/2014. The car has covered a little bit over 98600 but this is a mixture of km and miles. The Car body wise is not the best, but don't let that put it down, the paint work is gorgeous when it's polished up and really does shine. There is some lacquer peel on the roof which is common with this generation and colour, and there also various cracks in the lacquer but never bothered me. The front bumper is faded, and the sides do have some marks and dings but nothing major. The car engine wise is fairly standard, the only modifications being a genuine baileys dump valve 5zigen cat back exhaust Magnekor HT leads H KS mushroom airfilter. This allows for the potential of some major power increases and modifications, I was told by previous owner it was running about 145-150 with these mods on high boost, which is a fair estimate and in a car that weighs well under a tonne, that's more than enough. It comes with the optional factory LSD also. Now since my ownership I have replaced the radiator and thermostat for oem replacements, this was because it was overheating when boosting hard. We have now identified the problem and it is the water pump. It still works and runs fine, boosts well it just leaks and causes it to overheat. Now a brand new oe replacement is £30 and fitting I have been quote £30-£50 by a friend so really isn't expensive. I would keep the car and fix it but as aforementioned, situations have changed which lead me to sell it. Interior wise it is fairly standard also, there is a boost gauge fitted by a former owner which oddly is on the passenger side but can still be seen, it also has a momo champion steering wheel fitted . It does come with a stereo however it isn't fitted and will need a harness to do so. It also comes with optional extra air con (needs re-gassing) and optional extra wind deflectors. All electrics work bar the interior light and the digital clock. It comes on a set of 15" momo racer wheels, the front 2 tyres are not far off legal limit on inside edge. Suspension wise it has tein coilovers on the front (HA I believe) with camber and rebound adjustment, on the rear just some 40mm springs on shocks, It's recently had new cv and ball joints iirc and front discs. I really do not want to sell up but needs must, I have put it up for £1500 taking into consideration the repair that it requires, I am open to close offers and even swaps for a car and cash my way. I'd be looking for some sort of old civic at a push EK shape, but preferably older, another starlet preferably EP91 NA or another small nippy hatchback. Viewings and/or questions are welcome, texts preferred due to working hours and such like. Sam on 07402950069 Car is located in Carlton NG4

Anyone know what strut brace this is?
crawleysam replied to crawleysam's topic in Chassis & Suspension
Anyone have an idea of what it's worth? -
I've identified the problem as a coolant leak somewhere behind the block itself, looks to be near the alternator but only leaks when I boost it hard. Maybe the heat expands a hairline crack and lets the fresh coolant out? When I'm driving normally it doesn't leak at all, well visibly.

I had that thought as well, it doesn't really have any identifying marks on it though -
Got given this strut brace when I bought my GT and have no idea what make it is, or how much it's worth. Anyone shed any light on it? Thanks in advance

So I've been off this for a week or so as I've not long been on holiday, I've since fitted a new radiator as mine gave up, and new thermostat to aid in stopping it overheating. Now for the most part it's been alright but on occasion it does overheat and I have no idea why. I've tried bleeding it but there is still air in the system. Now i've been told it could be head gasket or just an air leak but I'll have to get it compression tested to see. I've also fitted a nice blue tow hook and began the possible kanjo influence with a traditional white mask. None of which I have suitable pictures of yet, so expect them soon...

its not thermostat, anyone got any ideas
-
Bleeding the system, must of done 8-9 times now and still when on boost the temperature rises. Any ideas?
-
it looks to be an actual blockage, put coolant in the top hose and it didnt come out the bottom at all, then turned the car on and still didnt come out? was only for a couple of seconds
-
the fan doesnt seem to engage at all? not volunterily anyway
-
i'll give that a go, thanks
-
i got all the coolant out I could. It just continuely overheats and literally nothing stops it. Having the fan on seems to do jack all and no amount of airflow helps
-
My radiator overheated on sunday due to a crack, I had to drive home with it nearly off the temp scale and stop often to let it cool down. Ive since bought and fitted a new radiator and new coolant and still it overheats? any idea as to why Much appreciated Sam
