  1. Thank you :) hmm I still dunno what to do about it to be honest! Since i don't know what exactly i need to do it I can't just gather up the parts I need lol. And no one seems to have all of it in one go!

    Easiest way would be to get complete doors with all that stuff already in them and swap them over. The sockets for the wiring are already there in your car hidden behind the kick panels. You'd then just need to take the doors off, drill a couple of holes to let the plugs into the car, doors back on and plug them in. To do it the long way round (I.e. keeping your current doors) you've got to do all of that, plus putting all the e/w shit into the existing doors.

  2. My basis for saying it's not as hard as it sounds is that it was the first thing I did on any car. Im not trying to push in the other way, I'm in favour of people going to garages if they want to. I'd have done the same thing when my clutch went if I had the money.

    If I could do it on my drive with no help and no mechanical experience at all, I'm utterly certain anyone could do it. I'm not saying it's not terrifying performing a surgery for the first time either, just don't let it put you off if you understand what the job entails. I'm sure one of the reasons Starlets are so popular is that they're easy to work on and well-engineered enough that they forgive you if you make a few small fuck ups.

    Assuning it's a UKDM P91, you want the plug on the right as you're looking at the clocks. There's a green wire on the right of the top row of the clocks, that's the tacho signal wire. Cut, strip n splice :)

    Hell of a lot easier than tapping off the ECU as you're not having to run a wire behind the dash etc.

  4. There's 2 screws on the bottom of the wheel, once those are out you can yank the airbag and get to the boss. Pretty straightforward, you shouldn't have any issues.

    Like you said, make sure you disconnect the battery first as you don't want the bag to punch you for removing it.

  5. You can buy a dremmel kit for argos for 25 quid comes with the tool and like 150 attachments.

    As long as your dremmel spins mate just get some decent little cutting disks and it will work just lovely.

    Might be the winner here, I'm just not convinced my ancient Dremel is up to it.

    I'd love to, definitely the easiest way but I really cbf to take the tailgate off to do it and a gas axe would get... Interesting haha

    A dremel or you can buy a drill bit that you drill a hole and it cuts aswell

    Got any links to that kinda bit? I had a look on screwfix but couldn't find anything.

  7. What would be the best tool to use to cut a couple of holes in a body panel? I'm installing a Glanza plate surround and reverse lights in a UKDM tailgate so I need the holes for the lights. My current thought is drill the corners then try and get a pair of tin snips in there, but there's got to be a better way.

    I've got some back end plans in the pipeline, which I'm hoping to get to this weekend. Couple of other minor bits, my rusty rear arch has been repaired and looks effing beautiful now, and I fit an alarm with remote central locking.
