  1. Turbo springs and retainers are stronger. wont get valve float in the high revs.
  2. Just felt like a lot of resistance going vertically. (1st to 2nd and 3rd to 4th+ but side to side was silky smooth If your cable was wanked youd have problems in all gears not just 3rd sounds like a syncro. Fairly common fault.
  3. Use a 4e sump to clear the downpipe?
  4. Cable was frayed inside the tube eventually snapped.
  5. How do you tell the difference of a NA vs.Turbo gearbox without splitting it or checking the chasis code? I heard something about the casting line going along the selector?

  7. It has to be a box from a non-turbo though right? Turbo boxes ring gears are 8 bolt and ae111 BZR ring gears are 6 like N/A starlet boxes? And what cup/drives are used?
  8. Will the LSD out of an AE111 BZR (C160) fit in the diff casing of a starlet C series box (Non LSD)? Can you make a non LSD box into a LSD? And what cups/drives would need to be used?
  9. On the right hands side when your looking at the carb theres one of those vacuum pressure yokes and theres a pipe feeding back into the back of the carb just pull the pipe and un-screw the 2 screws on the bracket on top of the carb. You'll need to take off the whole airbox to get at them.
  10. guarantee you its the vacuum fellas on the side of the carb. Has happened all my carbs at some stage. You can screw them back to idle lower but they'l still hold revs changing gears. I ended up bypassing it. Comes off with 2 screws. The one on the right hand side has been the one at fault in any ive had. You'll need to reset the idle screw doe.
  11. Are all years of N/A starlet hubs the same? Will ep90 hubs fit my 1litre ep80?

  13. 1e driving like a dream but wont idle. Engine was completely stripped and rebuilt so vacuum pipes have been messed with would this cause it? Anyone have any pictures of the piping i can use?
  14. Up and down (1st to 2nd, 3rd to 4th etc.) gear linkage all of a sudden got really stiff. Side to side is grand. Is it beat or can i pull it off and grease it up?
  15. Doing the timing for the first time on a 1E engine. Have the camshaft gear set spot on with "1E" mark at 12 o'clock. I spin crank to get it to TDC and am coming against a valve. Should I set crank at TDC first then spin cam to timing mark? Thanks
  16. Sorted. had 2 rod end caps mixed up
  17. How ye going getting a lot of hardship putting together a 1e bottem end and need some advice. Crank is free until rod end caps are tightened to just 18NM and the bottem end locks up and cant be turned over at all. Bearings are spot on, everything was well oiled when assembled. Could it just be the lack of oil around the crank/cylinders and fix itself once fully assembled and filled with oil? Any help at all??
