that box could have a 6bolt diff in it ? meaning it was out of a n/a your best way to find out what you got is pop off the passenger side driveshaft seal and count the bolts thats if you cant be arsed too split the box apart

the Na boxes have a pressed steel end casing not cast ali one I believe.

  2. A good few years ago I had a dta s80 on my 5e. at the time it wouldn't work with the stock Toyota trigger system and I had to have a trigger wheel fitted to the crank pulley and run a crank sensor. Have they made changes to the software to allow it to run with the stock triggering system?

No way would I run a dta ecu again wished I never bothered with it.

  3. hahahaha that guy was a right chump wasnt he mate. The base wasnt that hard to find surely. It was stressful though!

When we got home he tried it on with the price adding more onto the bill trying to tell me it didnt include vat in the price. Theres no way that guy was declaring any of the stuff he was up to. Anyway i said to him listen theres nothing extra getting added onto the price but seen as you did a good job with the car i will give you an extra tenner. He mumbled something and took it. then hounded me with messages to leave him some feedback on shipley. He did have a mint recovery truck mind i will give him that.

Little update on the car. i messaged my mate the other night to ask him if he had made a start on the car. He said the car was looking like alot more work than he thought it was going to be  and said he didnt think he had time to fit it inbetween the other jobs hes got booked in already. Ended up getting in touch with another m sport guy about it and that was looking like an option. I went  down to see my mate and i hes still going to do it now. i gave him the chance to leave it if he didnt want to do it but he said hes going to do it but it will take a bit longer than he first thought.

  4. Got this heap dropped off for the fab work on Monday with the help of my mate and his truck. Ended up having to remove the front bumper to get the car on and it still only just went on. 20190128_185609_zpshsduwuzj.jpg My mate thinks the car will be done in a week so he should be bashing on with it. Hopefully have some pics soon.

I am reading this, I may not comment on every post but just wanted to say it is being viewed.

    Keep up the great work!

Haha cheers Calum, its not the shiniest build thread with fancy rare parts getting ordered from japan ect but its real work going into it. Even if no one reads it I like that I've got a full record of the work done to the car as my memory is pretty bad. I'm gutted about my GT4 build thread though as I only had it on the GT4oc and they got hit with ransom ware and the guys never backed the forum up so ALL the data was lost, and I pretty much rebuilt the full car. So now im posting this on 3 forums! That should mitigate the chance of loosing it hopefully.

Big day today, the Teg goes on its holiday :). I gave the garage a clean out yesterday for the first time in months (found a cruise gear knob for the GT!). What a dump it was. When the cars out the garage I will be sweeping it all out.
My mate thinks he will have the fab work done on the arches within a week! I think it will take longer but I like the sound of it. Then I need to see if the guy I know will do the paint work. He wants to see the car after the metal work first, I guess to see if the jobs decent or not before he gets it, fingers crossed he will take it on. I'm guessing I will likely need most of the car sprayed for it to be right.

  6. the new wepr kit has definetely freed the car up a bit and im no longer boost creeping and hitting fuel cut so thats good. Not aiming for anything but i have a complete plug and play emanage ultimate kit for it that will need mapped but i just never got round to it. I would probably run 1.1 bar and see what it made. Maybe i ill get it fitted at some point.

Good work on the ep82 purchase! you wont regret it. I cant see a build thread for it, have you made one yet?

  7. Yeah shes still going no issues other than the exhaust rotting through near the backbox.

    20190105_131046_zps6fhcccot.jpg

So i made a new bend up from 2.5" stainless, tack welded it in place on the car. not the best job as it was a bit of a rush repair. There was also a few holes in the pipe. hopefully i can keep the 5zigen system going a bit longer yet.

Getting the bend somewherenear to what came off

    IMG-20190105-WA0006_zpsbjfyhjrv.jpeg

offering it up on the car checking position of everything and making sure the backbox sat where i wanted it to and nothing was catching.

out of practise with the tig ive done very little in ages so it doesnt look pretty im afraid.

Oh yeah i fitted a new wepr ct9 power up kit a bit back but forgot to update this thread. its a great bit of kit. Sacha makes the best manifolds you can get for these cars for sure.

  8. I got back sooner than i thought we would so i got the rear trailing arms sprayed with 2 coats of black.

    20190124_155131_zpsvwbe6odn.jpg

    20190124_155138_zpsfgbrcn8c.jpg

Next im going to spray the hard race rear lower control arms to protect them as all the hard race products ive seen rust very quickly unfortunetely. i dont think the paint system they use is any good for the uk.

  9. Yes the workshop is a right dump. I'll gunna tidy it when the teg gets out. Here's the arms 20190122_172547_zpsvrjrobch.jpg And in primer. Finish doesn't need to be perfect on these as they came with a bit of underseal on from the factory i believe so i will be giving them a light coat of black stonechip i think. 20190122_173359_zpsgm6mwjov.jpg Im away for a few days now so no updates until i get back.

  10. I fitted a brand new TRD short shifter on my ep85 and found it made the changes notchy I didn't like it.

The old GT4 getting a mention there mate! A guy at work was asking me to take him out in it when its back on the road after winter. Hes had a mk1 sierra Cosworth since new.

  11. Cheers guys! I just need to keep at it now. Been looking at other tegs for sale recently and theres some absolute dogs out there so think i will bash on with this one and have a good solid one at the end.

    And the next seized bolt

    20190120_141520_zps8lu9rtuq.jpg

building it up with weld got it moving with the grips on it but then it just seized up again after a few turns. so i ended up drilling it out but then that only worked for so much of it and then i had to use my powerful dremel type tool with a carbide burr to grind the redt of the bolt out then pick the remaining pieces out of the threads then run a tap through it. It came out ok in the end but tool me all afternoon yesterday!

    20190120_171843_zpst6ztnlcr.jpg

After that i made a start cleaning up the RTA's with a wire wheel in the grinder, i finished it tonight then wiped them down with thinners and got a coat of bilt hamber hydrate 80 on. no pics yets though as i forgot. Also had the brackets from the handbrake cables, arb mounts and the caliper shield things in deox C eating away at the rust, they need another go but its a start.

  12. Not touched this in ages. ive bought heaps of parts for it like new rear lower hard race oem style arms and hard race front upper arms, theres probably heaps more too.

A guy I know used to build rally cars at M-Sport, then he set up on his own, but hes always busy. I asked him if he would do the arches on the dc2 ages back but he was booked up for most of the year so I looked else where. I gave him a shout in October/ November last year and he said he could do it but it wouldn't be until Dec/Jan. Anyway its booked in for 26th Jan, got my mate with a recovery truck booked in to take it down. I'm just going to get him to finish all the fabrication work off and probably prime all the new metalwork to protect it then I will get someone else to spray it. I've a guy in mind locally who is an excellent painter and he did my GT4 but not sure he will take this on. If not there's a place over in the north east which I've seen do good work so they are an option. There's lots of bodyshops round where I live but most aren't up to much and for any good job they do there's a heap of rubbish ones they have turned out.

So im looking forward to it going then just returning with all the rust cut out, and fresh new steel replacing it. All the work I have been struggling with. I've learnt a good bit from the fabrication work I've done on it but at this rate im just not going to get the car finished and im not confident I could make the new arches up myself anyway, this guy has all the gear and even an English wheel now too so it wont be a problem for him.
Once its back I will get it off for paint then I can put it all back together using all the new parts I've got or picking the best parts from the two tegs. Then I will likely strip the other teg and sell what I don't need, likely keeping a stash of spares. I'm going to hire a carpet cleaner and give the carpet and the interior a good freshen up. Once its all back together I will likely fit the turbo parts.

The old arm on the passenger side was a right ball bag and i had to cut the arm to get it off the car
    IMG-20190116-WA0009_zpsqf31tbqr.jpeg

The other side all came off pretty easy

    20190117_182630_zpsascwf5ps.jpg

I started knocking the RTA bushes out

    IMG-20190117-WA0007_zps8ew4xyid.jpeg
    20190117_183403_zpsw6og7qth.jpg

Then started stripping the rear suspension from the donor teg as this is in much better condition underneath

    20190119_135136_zpsuxhnjhea.jpg

I wanted to remove the discs but some of the screws were well in, all the others came out with an impact driver but this one wouldnt budge, so i got it nice and hot with the tig welder then built it up with filler wire.

    20190119_170610_zps1goqlizm.jpg

Then i got some grips on it and it started to come out nicely.

    IMG-20190119-WA0004_zps7me0yzd2.jpeg

    and out.

Ive also done a bit more cleaning up underneath the shell and the drivers side wheel arch, still lots to do though.

Yeah that would be brilliant thanks, it’s would be nice to see the difference in the power curve

they should be in here my old build thread.

Yeah definitely go 5e. other than getting a 5e block there isn't really any extra costs other than a 3e clutch so you can fit the 4e clutch to it and I got the 3 holes drilled and tapped for the turbo oil filter housing so I could fit the studs like oem, then a 15mm spacer for the power steering bracket I think I used.

What sort of power were you making with that?

made 324bhp 2wd on a local dyno with the prop removed and 302bhp on tuning developments dyno running 4wd but the mapping was never finished and there was still improvements which could have been made. If I remember later I will post the graphs if your interested.
