  1. Yeah that’s weird because this American JDM shop is selling the 1.6 L. It says it’s the 4efte. Are they mistaken?
  2. As I remembered you suggest keeping my Corolla gearbox. Buying the 4efte engine without gearbox will save me €600. You agree?
  3. How much would this cost and what else would I need to get it running as a 4efte? I should have an aprox quote with all the parts to decide if I should do this or buy the full 4efte. I found a 4efte in the UK without gearbox for about £1850. You told me that I could use my 4efe Corolla E11 gearbox. Are gears on the E11 shorter? Did you tell me about it or am I mistaken? My engine reaches180 Kmh at 5400 Rpm with his 88 hp. The 4efte generates 135 hp so maybe gears should be longer? The moment I get an approximate quote I can decide which way to go. Thanks
  4. I am looking at a 4EFTE 5speed EP91 engine 1.6 L that I found in the United States. I didn’t know that the 1.6 L even existed.
  5. Yes sir. I have lost so much work because of this and I really need this to be a positive project to make me happy. I’ll wait for your message. Thank you
  6. That sounds interesting. If you could send me a short list with the total parts and prices (everything I need ready for a swap including piggy back with mapping data) all together with your work on a 4efe as you just said. This way I can compare total cost with the purchase of a full 4EFTE engine. Example: 4efte full engine with gearbox (rather I use it or not) €2600 (taxes included); front Intercooler €400; fuel pump you suggested €250; water pump €100 ish; belts €100;, exhaust €850; labor €1000. Total €5300 (probably less)
  7. I totally understand. I’m still waiting on a 4efte with low millage. Gas stations don’t have rating here. I used Shell V/Power for a while. Highest rating here. Otherwise 4 star I guess. Total, Shell, Esso and the other big brands.
  8. Thank you very much. I appreciate it. I just went to speak to my mechanic and he said that it is hard to find a 4efe with low mileage and it would cost at least €2000 to open mine to regenerate cylinders and put new pistons. He also asked if the shafts would be strong enough with the turbo. What kind of head gaskets would be needed to have the correct compression? He asked me if the 4EFTE version has thicker shafts and crank shaft. The cost of the turbo and the manifold plus all the extras for 4efte parts plus labor would raise the price. He thinks that it would be cheaper to buy the complete
  9. I’m loving this topic because more people are sharing their experience. The two down points are my lack of experience and the fact that I am not in the UK. This said I want to tell you all that my 4EFE engine has 230,000 km. @Sam404 told me right away that the best option was to get a complete 4EFTE engine with ECU and swap it with my 4EFE that I would use for spare parts during the conversion. For instance the Inlet to be adapted to the 4efte turbo and of course a front IC. My goal is to have more horsepower but not a race car. I want to be able to drive it every day. This said I read all you
  10. How much would these 4efte and aftermarket parts cost? I heard they are rare. That’s what scares me. I don’t wanna get stuck. This is probably why they suggested to buy a complete 4EFTE engine. Please let me know if you have sellers who can help with this list. Thanks again.
  11. Unfortunally my budget is the lowest it can be. So turbo charging my 4EFE would be apparently the cheapest solution? If so, I need to consider the whole turbo kit, manifold and exhaust, ECU or whatever piggyback, intercooler. Is this all I need? Could you help with a list? I need to check brands and prices and I need a “to do list” to be able to discuss it with my mechanic for labor hours. What are the cost to go 150 PS without opening the engine or either 220 PS and forging the engine for both for long mileage life? Costs wise All I know so far is that the 4EFTE engine would cost m
  12. I would be more than happy to keep my 4efe engine and overcharge it. If you could kindly give me a list of components I shall buy to make it happen, I will discuss details with my mechanic. Thank you for your suggestion. It means a lot to me because all I wanna do now is get my 88 hp up to whatever hp I can to drive it every day without headaches.
  13. I heard about this before. Basically keeping my inlet manifold and adding the 4EFTE turbo parts Will make it more efficient. this can be done. I still haven’t found the 4efte engine. Talking to the Irish guys and at the same time to a great shop in Italy who imports Japanese engines. Buy it without gearbox would cost me around €2000 @Calum122 is suggesting to keep my 4efe engine send buy a turbo L modify it without swapping with a 4efte. With the shafts hold the pressure? I read before that the 4efe shafts are too thin compared to the 4EFTE.
  14. I guess because everything I read so far wouldn’t advice to put a turbo on the 4EFE as the engine wouldn’t be strong enough to hold a the hp and torque. Also, the labor would be very long including all the risks and extra components. Especially if done by someone who has never done it before on a Corolla. As the 4EFTE is a native turbo engine, it would be easier. This said I am not an expert. I am just saying what I read so far and I would obviously want to save money so you can tell me more about what I should buy to make it happen. If you could provide a list with names hi would talk to my m
  15. It is amazing how much knowledge you have concerning these engines. I would love to be a mechanic and have the equipment to work on it myself using your experience. My concern is that as I will have to pay labor to swap the engine, I will not have the privilege to open the engines and check it’s real conditions before putting it into my Corolla. It would cost too much. This is the gamble I will have to face. My original 4efe has run 235k Km and it runs perfect. Maybe I will be lucky to find a 4efte in the same conditions or better? Thanks again!
  16. Thank you for your advice. That will save me money and as soon as my gearbox seems to be running well without noises, I will change the oil a few times and invest the money I save on the gearbox and other components. Waiting for feedback‘s about available 4efte engines hoping to pick one without issues. I know it’s a Russia roulette. My guy in Italy told me he never had an issue with any Japanese engines ever since he started to import them 7 years ago. Even though this engine is older, with low mileage if I am lucky it will run well. I’m an amateur and I’m putting all my savings so fingers cr
  17. I appreciate it. I will post as soon as I find the engine hoping I can buy it without the gearbox to save money as I will follow your suggestion to use the 4efe Corolla gearbox on my car.
  18. Appreciate that. I will not find a gearbox with less millage than my 4efe. What would I have to do to regenerate one? Just to know if I would get stuck for months. Thanks to both of you.
  19. Thank you for the info. The only 4efte engines available now are without LSD. Just trying to figure out if I should buy the engine without the gearbox or not. Sam44 is helping me figure out if I can adapt my Corolla 4efe gearbox to a 4efte. What do you think?
  20. Great. I eill keep the 4efe Corolla gearbox.you suggest buying the 4efte without gearbox? It will be cheaper. Will the Corolla 4efe gearbox fit perfectly the 4efte engine I will buy from Japan? If I understood well. Thank you
  21. Yes as you can see in the picture. Black cap. Am I right?
  22. Point is that if I cannot use mine I will have to buy a complete 4efte with gearbox that has 80k Km. There is no 4efe engine with less than 250k Km. What do you suggest? Labor cost to regenerate an engine would cost a fortune and ai cannot afford it. I want a nice Turborolla.
